Kirakira Precure A La Review 38!

I can't stop writing more. Its getting so bad, and it was such a meh episode; at least there was a lot of cuteness.

Summary for the anons that need it: The fairies are back to making desserts on the mountain with Pekorin leading the way. With a doughnut party finished, Pekorin and Kirarin go to visit and discuss Pikario. The fairies all have a sleep over, and the moonlight shines down on Pekorin giving her a vision of Lumiere. When everyone wakes up a small child has taken Pekorin's place to everyone's shock. At KiraPati Pekorin explains what she knows to everyone, and asks if she can start working on desserts as a human. The girls are more than happy to let her, and get to work taking stock. Soon they have a list of supplies and Pekorin wants to go, by herself. The girls yield quite quickly, only to sit back and follow her. Pekorin is fairly easily distracted, but its never too long as she realizes she has a mission to complete. At the super market she sings her list, much to the watching girls' delight. As she works her way through the aisle, she happens on a distressed mother and her crying child. Pekorin is more than happy to help and begins making faces to entertain the child. But the effort is too much and Pekorin pops back to fairy form. After quickly hiding and getting back to human, she finishes her shopping, only to find out she's lost her purse. She flails about the store looking all over. The Purse is gone! As she starts getting upset over her failure, a stocker approaches offering to help her find it, but before they can get close to lost-and-found, the child from before appears holding the purse. Pekorin is thankful for the help and finishes her mission. Back at KiraPati the girls celebrate Pekorin's first run, and Pekorin announces her next day's effort. Next day, Pekorin is making doughnuts for all the forest beings. After a long process, everyone gathers in a circle outside and has their doughnuts.

Summary continued: Its quite the feast of Kirakira which summons Graves and his new car, stuffed to the brim with evil wolf. The car is just too strong for the Cures and they are chased around before finally getting smacked down. Graves goes for the kill, but Pekorin steps forward and sacrifices her human form to make a shield. With Graves weakened, the Cures go for a cleanse and merely leave a few dents on the car and Graves limping away. At KiraPati the girls morn the loss of Human Pekorin, but she's unbothered as everyone is safe. Inside the mountain Pikario stirs.

I've been waiting for Graves to get based. It was kind of stupid to intro him halfway through, but running over a defenseless dog really set him up for great scummery of a general. Its just too bad he didn't happen to be much stronger.

Like at the beginning of the episode I'm not sure if it was a mistake in writing or Kirarin trying to make Pekorin feel smart by asking her these things. It was very odd that Kirarin would have forgotten her brother's motivations since it was explained in the episode where everyone finds out she's a fairy. Just a little thought

I do agree that these post-midseason arc episodes are closer to the pre-midseason arc episodes than the midseason arc episodes tonewise, but I mind myself enjoying the post-midseason arc episodes more generally speaking. There's something about Meroron being a stubborn menace that makes the general character dynamics all the more fun, and that wouldn't have happened without the amnesia arc. I wouldn't say the first cour is bad or anything, but it's the worst part of the season in general to me. However, everything from the Mother's Day episode on is an overall significant improvement to that first cour, even the last few summer episodes.
I'd say that the first cour is probably close enough to the rest of the season where I wouldn't recommend Kimi to Idol if someone outright hated it, but the episodes after the first 13 were a big enough quality jump to surprise me.

This 'shipping' doesn't feel as authentic as Cutty/Uta's because Cutty had focus developing his secret admiration for Idol, and when he finally meets Idol as her 'number one fan' it felt so satisfying and even cathartic. You felt good for the guy. Nana and Zakkuri feels kinda cheap because he didn't show interest for her except for very recently - feels like they're pairing each villain with each idol (and I like the idea) but the execution for the latter two villains won't be nowhere near as fulfilling.

That’s actually wrong though? Zakkuri at this point has been around longer than Cutty and has had a ship with Nana since his debut, and in fact his interest just grew much slower over time. Cutty was just weak and lost to Uta without any direct interaction from her, it wasn’t until Nana showed concern for Zakkuri that he totally fell for her

Zakkuri getting overworked has been built up for weeks now, but Uta blushing over Kaito isn't acknowledged even one episode later, and we're back to Meroron trying to kill Uta for stealing Purirun as is the usual.
