An anon pointed out in another thread that this chapter is very similar to one in Nisekoi. After checking out both, this is true, but the characters in Hima act and communicate like real people in this chapter, instead of walking tropes like in Nisekoi's, so you end up with this type of refreshing conclusion as a consequence.

Our manga is literally doing the same, kiyoshi is trash because it is made for homos and fujoshi. All the heroines in that manga are used goods old hags. Perfect for the Reiwa era cucks

I actually think how generic Himaten is is the entire appeal. You basically never see conventional old school romcoms anymore. It's neither a domestic romance where there's one girl and everyone is unreasonably mature for their age, but it's also not gimmicky with an asshole male lead, a meta mystery girl, and over the top characters. The setting is entirely mundane and cast are just regular high schoolers.

Like it's certainly the picture of a generic romcom but I don't know the last time there was actually just a story about a regular dude who got stuck between his demure crush and the misunderstood new girl with a mixed gender side cast of regular friends.
