I think there's a bit of a difference with Suwa and Arafune's squad mates
Hisato's already shown a fair bit of progression for a side character and Daichi while never getting much presence still manages to pull his weight like him taking out Katori in the final match
Arafune squad mates while not getting as much story focus keep appearing in the sniper sessions consistently showing they're capable.

Oji's team has just had less time for anything like that. Though I do like their shooter being a trigger nerd.

Strategy: Upon arrival everyone activate bagoworm and spread in a wide formation maintaning maximum distance in a way that each can cover-fire the other, if caught out of position at the beginning, agents that are closer to each other will cover-fire and retreat until they can position themselves. That's why all of them are mobile Snipers. Agent A/B will complement each other each peltering enemies from maximum range, meaning that if you pursue they will be far away from each other. The Raygusts are there to help buy time for the sniper to survive if ever caught in meele, giving the other two more time for cover fire and a window for repositioning if possible, grasshopper+bagworm providing mobility for positioning and repositioning.

The Ace will always keep moving and maintaining himself closer than the other two agents, since you need at least two agents to kill him with no losses, you'll need to go through him somewhat if you want to go after the other two snipers, and on close combat he is a B-Rank Attacker/Shooter wich means he can stall a B-Rank Agent alone indefinetely in meele or medium range. Ace also has Ibis to deal with cover-stalling.

After last thread I decided to drop thrusters in favor of Hounds in case we have to deal with chameleon abusers.

There’s a trion cost to spawning your weapon. I would imagine they’re not running around dual wielding snipers. The empty slots allow for more trion for bullets. If you’ve got all your slots filled you don’t have much in the way of ammunition.

You're not thinking political enough. A few hundred conquistadors didn't topple the Aztecs through military might. They did it by turning them and their allies against one another. While Meeden is bigger and more populous than anything in the neighborhood, Border is a small fish. Winning other neighbor nations and factions over to their side is the best way for them to make up for their relative weakness.
Gaining a political prisoner who is important enough that Hyrein felt threatened by him is a huge win. Especially since his loyalties put him in direct conflict with the factions on Aftokrator that Border is most likely to have to confront.

I'd guess that extra triggers are enough of a trion burden that, if you're not going to use them, it's a noticeable waste. But if it is something you're going to use, even sparingly, it's probably worth it unless you're a trionlet.

This could be true or part of the reason, but I think Kuga’s reasoning is probably what resonates most with people. If you’re not proficient with a Trigger, you shouldn’t equip it just because you have free slots. The cost could be little or a lot but it's still a cost nonetheless. I think killing Enedora was planned regardless, not a spur of the moment decision by Mira. The primary issue was that Enedora was unstable and prone to going rogue. He'd be too much of a risk to leave alive. Hyuse they could at least be sure would stay loyal to his master and not easily give up information or defect to Medeen. They simply underestimated Border's willingness to negotiate with Hyuse.

Anyone going into the neighborhood expecting to find anyone more devoted to Meeden than their own nation is delusional. The only reason that works with Yuma is because he was a rootless wanderer with a connection to Meeden through his father. And the ones already at border have no other choice after losing their world. People like Hyuse and the Galopoula people whose self serving interests happen to align with Border's are the best you can expect and what Border is going to have to work with if they want to succeed.

Kitora got overshadowed by basically all the other female characters. When she was the only female character at the start of the series, she was noticeable. Then Chika, Usami, and Konami were introduced, and she started losing relevance. She hung onto it for a bit by being the only female character to get some combat time, and having a crush on Torimaru. Then during the invasion she got eaten by a rabbit and sat out the rest of it, while Konami got to start to show her strength in combat which made Kitora look like a rookie. Following the invasion, various jokes and remarks in character bios made it clear that she was just one of many girls at Bordre with a crush on Torimaru, so that ceased being relevant. While as the rank wars went on, Chika started growing as a combatant, Usami got more screentime as T-2's operator, and Konami both got a lot of screentime during the down time guarding Hyuse and being a mentor/defacto big sister to T-2, and got to show off her combat skills even more during the Galopoula raid. During which time the story also introduced other female characters like Nasu who looks far more impressive in combat than Kitora, and Kako who's theoretically strong and has a much more fun personality. While Kitora's big accomplishments during this time were helping stall one enhanced trion soldier offpanel, and very haughtily recommending that Osamu try using wires. The trend continued with Katori being introduced as a capable combatant who's just as bitchy as Kitora, but is far more expressive than the cold Kitora, and has a far more interesting background than we've seen from Kitora. That bring us to the current point of the storytime, but you can see the general trend which doesn't really improve for her.

So people paid attention to Kitora at the start when she was the sole female star in the series. And they stopped as it became clear she was just one jealous, petty female character not particularly important in combat or the story.

Strategy: While it doesn't follow the rules of the game I am sticking with my funny tactic with some adjustments.

Agent A focuses on setting things up, but not in a defend the castle way. He is leaving trails of meteor landmines and dummy beacon set to run in other directions. Salamander for long range, other composite shots no always doable because B rank.
Agent B is there for covering fire with Erget Range and using the Viper handgun to detonate said landmines. Grasshopper is for running away and also throwing enemies around. Works with Agent A plenty.
The Ace is there to hunt people down and possibly regroup with A or B if he needs the help. The stalemate breaker. For a non-trionlet he can use Spider to grab people, lay traps, and to help get around. And Chameleon for decisive ambushes.

A typical match has Ace and Agent A fighting as dirty as possible with Agent B on supporting from firing lanes. Ace can also turn Meteor landmines into Meteor tripmines and use Escudo / Spider to help isolate targets.

Shotgun is designed to have a shortened barrel

Strategy: Sniper is the Captain, making callouts and providing support (I also assume a Sniper can give more info over the whole battlefield to the Operator). Gunner is focused on mobility and harassment, and I chose Scorpion instead of another gun for more precise shots and just in case they go up against an Attacker. Ace is focused on closing in with Bagworm and defense mode Raygust, charging in with Thruster, and then firing point blank with power-maximized Shotgun (shortened barrel so it's easier to fire around the Raygust and prevent a Kazama vs Osamu draw.

This is a battle of range unless its a majorly indoor map. Lightning and Ibis means your Sniper is gonna have to work those legs and grasshopper to get in range faster since Egret has the longest range. Your Ace takes out either of my agents once he gets close. Raygust + Thruster means good burst, but also straight lines. Probably easier for him go get my Shooter than Sniper. A fight between our aces could go either way, though I'd give yours the edge. Mine isn't a super mobile, but still has Spider for getting around. Amped up Asteroid would chunk the Escudos. Raygust isn't your guys forte, but I think the stronger shields can help deal with someone that isn't insane, just pretty good, with Scorpion.Between our Shooters you have the range advantage, but once the distance is closed even a little by mine I think mine has the edge with the more powerful shots + Hound to help with Grasshopper. Your sniper being the captain means they probably have a better idea of figuring out which beacons are the real deal or not to shut that down. Though that could leave him open to being caught by my own Ace. Probably my own personal biased to give myself the edge, but I could see times where your Ace simply guns mine down then hunts down my Shooter, leaving my Sniper to have to take what points they can get then bail.

Teleport is gonna be a real pain for my squad. My Ace can handle it somewhat with Escudo since it based on line of sight iirc, but the others have got to play the prediction game. In addition to blocking vision, escudos would also provide some protection against meteors, so that would be a big help for your squad. Although, like you say, the wires and meteor traps would get cleaned up pretty quick.
Despite the big difference in overall strategy, our squads are quite similar in makeup. I think it would come down to a fight between the aces. If yours is able to do some good initial damage with a stealth strike then it snowballs in your favor. But if they both end up clashing in more of standard fight I think mine would have the advantage. Although your captain would be the juiciest prize. Taking him out would make it a lot easier to flush out the other two.

So we have Sniper Squad. Trapper Squad. Gunner Squad. And Tele Squad. Whatever the map starts as, it is gonna get emptied out between the Trapper and Tele squad's love of meteor. Though everyone may be aware of that, it is still the primary game plan. The longer the match goes on for the better it is going to be for Sniper squad. Everyone here also has a Sniper.

Gunner and Sniper squad are both pretty mobile with their squads being nearly full Grasshoppered. Difficult terrain won't be much of an issue for them. Both Trapper and Tele Squad love their chaos so a big energetic 3v3v3v3 seems up their alley.

On a typical map, let's say Cityscape A. I think Gunner Squad is going to be at the biggest disadvantage. They're gonna want closer range encounters since their Sniper has less range of operation and their Ace is still borderline melee. But with buildings to use as cover and the ability to go quickly between it they should still do fine in theory. Sniper Squad is also in trouble some since it seems all the other Aces are gonna be aiming for solitary targets. Covering fire means more exposing as well. Without a layout for where people spawn I can only say so much though.

My own Trapper squad is going to be drawing attention with Dummy spam and people are gonna be wary about Chameleon in a messy 4 squad battle more so I feel. It also means more likely someone can third party after a sneak attack.

I think Teleporter Squad has solid chances. Kogetsu for more range on an attack + a mix of Meteor spamming to flush out hiders with an Egret sniper means they have the most well rounded approach. This is of course assuming even spawns and a normal map like Cityscape A.

Flails are stupid IRL but if you could make the "chain" controllable then it would be an interesting weapon. Probably not efficient though since you'd have a head that needs kogetsu-durability at least and having to compromise between durability and control on the chain. And most of what you could get out of it, scorpion can do better. Team A here. I think Hyuse gets Azuma'd, any other sniper who joins get secret weapon'd but I'm pretty sure that the Azuma fight is doomed. Kumagai goes for mutual kill on either Obishima or Teruya if she is lucky to survive long enough to get into melee and then Ikoma cleans whoever is left but If either Tonoka or Azuma are still alive by that point I lose. It might sound bad but I'm pretty sure my team will be focus fired from the start and they have 4 snipers to my 0 and neither of my agents are equipped with proper mobility tigers, escudo trick is good an all but its no grasshopper and Azuma hits areal targets like its nothing so its a one way road.
I actually think either B or C win depending on how the Azuma thing plays out.

Team A is solid and methodical. Azuma is a persistent threat and may pick off a reckless Katori or Ikoma. Kuruma helps zone enemies together with Obishima and with Azuma cover they can dominate the mid game. Second Place.

Team B is fun but...
Katori and Ikoma may get a flashy kill or two especially on Sasamori or Kuruma, but their styles clash, this team has little cordination, they get picked off or overextend. Osamu helps them not fall apart entirely, but he’s not enough to push them ahead unless the chaos really plays to their favor. If Osamu manages to tard-wrangle both, then the best bet would be creating spider zones who would buff Katori immensely. Their biggest hurdle here would be Azuma

I think kogetsu (with senku) could work really well with both grashopper and chameleon. Grasshopper could allow for extended range senku lunges and bouncing back out of attacks to counter with senku. And you can switch off of kogetsu without getting rid of it completely. So you could get ready to strike with a kogetsu while still in chameleon. Team B wins by combining high-impact offense (Ikoma) and sniper pressure (Tonooka). Or just for being the only balanced team here. They’ll likely get early picks, especially if they find Hanzaki or Betsuyaku out of position. If Ikoma gets even one point with Senkou, the momentum snowballs. Jackson is used to chase around aces so he can actually keep up with Ikoma quite well and do his average job.

Team A is great at stalling and denying space, especially with Chika. Arafune and Hanzaki are bothable to punish leaded enemies and clean up and set them up for Chika. But nothing much than that. Arafune would do best by staying close to Chika and guarding her since bar Ikoma he can deal with the other meeles.

Team C fights hard but lacks range or unpredictability. Miura and Suwa can hold their own in duels, but they’ll struggle to close distance on a map with so much powerful snipers. Without kills early, they get overwhelmed by smarter positioning since from all snipers here Taichi is probably the lowest ranked.

I think what makes borderchan so different isn't just that Kuga is one of our MCs, but also we don't have to worry about training time. Raygust and Scorpion are more recent additions to Border than Kogetsu. Grasshopper is also better for Kuga than most due to him being smaller, but even some basic hopping is still a very useful trigger. Also I don't think we've seen any Lead Bullets so far either.

I think if we were talking A rank teams then the lead bullet setup Miwa has might be somewhat popular. But having to essentially full attack for it makes it a lot less appealing compared to what else you could be doing, even setting aside the heavy trion cost. The only reason Chika even bothers is because of her unwillingness to shoot people.
I agree that lore reasons could contribute to kogetsu being so popular. Especially at C rank, kogetsu kinda sucks without senku. So you'd imagine after a few years the other two would start catching up. Especially scorpion with Yuma impressing everyone with his tricks.
I still think it's strange that Oki is the only grasshopper sniper. Pinballing requires a specific build and skillset. But there's plenty of attackers that use grasshopper in less extreme ways. So you'd think the coordination to hop up a building wouldn't be that rare.

Spider Osamu + lead Chika is a threat to anyone in mid-b tier, even Nasu & Ko. The main issue is that Jackson is dead weight even as a gunner. I have said it before and I will say it again, he could be a good sniper but he doesn't cut it to be a gunner, especially not the Inukai kind. The main issue is that this team doesn't need a second sniper and I fear that giving him shooter cubes wouldn't work well.
So the best plan would be to tell him to use hound and well, do the Inukai. Run around, move people towards or out of wire zones depending on the combat salutation and stay alive for as long as possible. On stats alone Jackson should be able to do this. The issue is that he can't. This style requires constant thinking, evaluating, fast decisive turns and decisions, Jackson cannot do that. So even the skillset he is supposed to have is entirely useless, worse yet it is unreliable as we could see with the most recent 1 vs 3 against a fucking free point, all he needed was to magdump Four eyes in the face the moment he got line of fire.
So... Hound only and run around the wires where Osamu isn't, asking him to make sure Chika has sight lines and can assist him might be too much.
They would still terrorise lower b and occasionally upset mid-b when stars align but that is about it. Maybe Jackson would evolve into human, who knows. With an Inukai clone they would actually have a decent team.

Well, he rarely swings his sword and relies on thruster usually.
