Let’s say All-Might never met Deku, and he went on to UA with the plan to check out the students and see who would be the best fit for OFA (with Mirio being the front-runner). Meanwhile, the one who meets Deku is…AFO. On a whim, AFO gives him a quirk, on the condition that Deku owes him a favor in the future. It’s nothing really strong, but something good enough to at least get him enrolled in the UA while pretending he was just a really late-bloomer. AFO gives him a body-strengthening type Quirk to best serve the request to be like All-Might. So. Is Deku still able to convince All-Might that he’s the best candidate for OFA? Does he succeed anywhere near the level he does without OFA and with a more conventional Quirk?

Shame the author is such a Marvel fag, the heroism of this manga and the MC seems to fit in more with DC.

Also, with the fall of AFO, the League and Re-Destro’s group, it seems like the era of villains is pretty much finished. Without AFO and Re-Destro supporting villains how can anyone possible be a villain? As a villain you are hideously out-numbered, vastly overwhelmed in resources and with little to no support. It’s MUCH worse than just the reversal of the time of AFO’s dominion, because at least heroes had extraordinarily strong heroes and the support of regular society to stand up against the villains, now the villains of today have jack shit. Unless an insanely powerful villain arises, AND one which wants to support villains in general like AFO did, becoming a villain is the quickest dead-end career choice you could possible make. I dropped it when the heavily foreshadowed 7 powers came into fruition, but I really hate that deku just never followed his passion. He wanted to be a superhero, but he never trained until he was offered the power of the number one hero.
Then he saves the world blah blah blah loses his powers.
1. Does he want to continue to be a hero?
2. Is he settling as a teacher or is that what he truly wants to do?
If he wants to be a hero, then what he should have done was put his nerd brain to work. He should have helped the gadget girl. He should have looked into knuckleduster. He should have asked Mirio how he protected Eri from Overhaul. He should have helped build the fucking suit.
If he wanted to be a teacher, then they need to make it clear that that's what he considers to be the ultimate hero in a world where heroes are no longer needed. He should have turned down the suit, started up a quirkless hero foundation and trained the next quirkless hero.

There were so many ways to do this. But by having deku accept the suit after 8 years of not training, you acknowledge that he has done nothing to pursue his dream.

He could have worked out and learned martial arts. He wouldn't have reached the top, but there are plenty of heroes who have powers that aren't suited for direct combat, but still fight using martial arts and gadgets.
He could have studied hard and become one of the people to develop those gadgets that heroes use to take down villains.
But he didn't. He didn't do any of that, because he wanted to be a hero like All Might. He never wanted to help people or save people, he just wanted to wear the suit and live out his vain, shallow fantasy.

The only parts i truly disliked about the ending are:

I still think Deku not knowing anything about the supersuit for all those years until the last minute when All Might presents it to him is stupid. Like he's been out of the game as a hero for around 6-8 years and probably kept his body in top condition for some reason while training to be a teacher, accepting that he can't be a hero anymore. Like couldn't he have participated on developing the suit with Mei on the side, like testing out various prototypes to iron out any kinks and ensure that it fits to his preferences? Something which NO one ever brings up is — why on Earth would the UA accept a Quirkless teacher when the students need Quirks to enroll (All-Might still had his embers when he entered the faculty and since he was the great hero of all time I could see how they would make an exception for him after it became clear that he was powerless). But Deku hadn’t even become a pro hero by the time he lost his Quirk and in fact NEVER became a hero at all, so how did he land such an illustrious teaching position at UA? Eh people shit on Hori for the ending, but if he wrote a Naruto tier ending he would have been shit on even more since there was no ship that had enough development to justify a marriage in the final chapter. Deku and Ochako were obviously meant to be a thing so we should have gotten a confession, but he chickened out for some reason. Same thing happened with Shokugeki no Soma where the two MCs were clearly meant to be an item in the end and they're in love, but neither confess so fans are left to wonder what happens to them.

Pretty much this is the crux of the issue. Accepting the suit with tears of joy is proving he didn’t want to be a teacher but also that he doesn’t put effort to follow his true actual dreams. This is an issue exacerbated by the years of timeskip since it isn’t like this happened weeks or months after losing his power.
It not only ruins anything positive of his character, it makes him a more pathetic person than he was at the start of the story when he was a bullied kid dreaming high. Since he gave up on his dreams.
And it seems japanese people are incapable of understanding something so simple even though fighting for your dreams in spite of apparent lack of power/talent is something so normal in so many shounen manga.
The author really needed to do the damage control chapter that he accepts the suit but puts it on hold since he was currently a teacher, it makes it clear that Deku actually values being a teacher and that duty has to be addressed first before becoming a hero.

It’s not that Ochaco doesn’t care about victims, it’s just that Toga and her are main characters and so matter. Toga’s victims don’t matter. Toga herself seems completely unaware that she killed anyone and when bitched at her about it she feels like they’re not paying attention to her. Because — it’s not just Toga, no one including the reader, actually cares. To the protagonists, killing civilians is just a Bad Thing that heroes must not do, but there is no horror or sense of tragedy. They’ll feel bad if they learn that thousands of people were killed in the war, but they’ll get over it quickly because it’s not personal to them. From Toga’s perspective AND from Ochaco’s perspective, Toga hasn’t killed anyone, they only differ over if they’ve done anything Bad. That's exactly what I was thinking! To me, quirks imply that science as a whole has gone through massive breakthroughs. Some quirks expell compounds that should be unknown to science, and Ochako literally defies gravity.
I can picture a hero studying very hard to become a Jack Of All Trades type character, with a plan for every situation, carrying powers and knowledge from heros long gone and ones that are still in action
Besides, the mental image of Deku using something like picrel on Bakugo is very funny to me.
