>>280769923you get MC's like Rudy in Jobless Reincarnation who is a 34 year old man in the body of a kid (granted grows up during the show) who is at least consistent in his personality but isn't either completely OP or pathetic bitch. Though he does become so at the end of S1 because he is mad he got to fuck a 15 year old at 13 and she left because she thought he was too small. I personally find that kind of shit more annoying than overpowered MCs simply because if you're a guy with powers and abilities, suddenly getting mopey as shit over minor stuff just seems really fucking weird. So what the girl you knew for 10 years fucked you and left, holy shit, you're akin to a God and have the brain of a 34 year old and know how to exploit situations despite being a kid. Why are you mopey? Like you can argue that a 34 year old would prob react differently to a 13 year old, but conversely... you're a 34 year old in a 13 year olds body who fucked a hot 15 year old girl, I don't think you wallowing in despair because you got bullied at school is a good reaction. That kind of shit depresses me because it doesn't track with the situation you're in. My life is infinitely worse than that MCs and I don't get a cool do-over. So trying to make 'relatable' or 'balanced' MCs never fucking work for me UNLESS the show is about that (aka, a proper drama or serious romance etc).
Nothing personnel, kid..... (yes spelled incorrectly on purpose) MCs are at least funny edgy powerwank and you get the enjoyment knowing that some guy is going to get raped by the MC, you just wonder how.
tl;dr I agree with you about having edgy overpowered MCs is infinitely better than whiny-ass faggots and passive self-inserts (or worse, clueless passive-inserts) but conversely trying to make balanced MCs can end up making you disassociate because you're wondering why they're so fucking cringe sometimes.
