Is i I weird I feel insecure about not watching enough anime in the 2000s? Like I watched Haruhi and Higurashi with fansubs back in 2006. But also more niche stuff like Gaogaigar, Gunbuster, Hale + Guu, Planetes, Gankotsuou and Twelve Kingdoms. And skimmed through stuff like Godannar but it was kinda bad. And other stuff too. But I feel if I were on /a/ in 2006, I'd feel out of place.
>>280771055 (OP)Well, I feel insecure about not watching more recent series. I think I've missed out on a few generations of Jump flagships since the Big Three era. Like, I'm hesitant to pick up new series since they might not last, but once they've gone on for a while, it's more daunting to catch up.
There was a general canon of anime in the mid-2000s that everyone watched because there weren't many decent subbed shows. And a lot less anime was being made back then.
That's why images like this existed. To catch newfriends up on the shit everyone had already seen.

>>280771374Yeah I was aware of most of those back them but didn't watch most of them. Torrents were much slower back then
>>280771464I couldn't stomach mushishi... six episodes and the show was a draaaaaaaag
>>280771453broadband as a whole was much slower in the 2000's, and a rather substantial portion of the internet users were still on earliest form of ADSL or even dial-up.
>>280771516hmp... oh shigurui is on the list. The manga is so much better than the anime. It's as if the anime is counting on you reading the manga beforehan
I feel the same but also depressed knowing if I watch old stuff now it isn't be the same as if I did when I was 15 years younger
