To be fair, Chinese novels have microscopic chapters, and there are literal tens of thousands of them. Lots of meandering and repetitive content. You have to adapt 10-20 chapters per episode even without cutting anything. And you HAVE TO cut a lot of redundant things to tell a coherent story that's not just a beginning of a prologue. Arcs in general have extremely inconsistent size.
It's not like Japanese light novels, where each volume can be adapted neatly.

>>280778847
OP mentioned series is apparently different in that regard and mostly one of the few quality slops. Also each chapter is around 1000 ish words with web novels, basically a page worth of content in times new roman 12px font. So a regular chapter in an actual novel would be around 15-30 chapters of a light novel in length, web novels also rush a lot of the story out lacking detailed descriptions and just moving from scene to scene after establishing key points.

Looked for LotM on youtube for the lulz, if you scroll past reaction channels and all the "episodes explained in hindi" videos and the like, you'll start seeing religious videos. First Christian ones ranging from prayers to some weird "the chosen ones" videos to Hinduism mythology. Somehow "lord of mysteries" and "lord of the mysteries" lead to that.

I mean with everything we've heard from Cuttlefish about the Donghua he seems to really enjoy it.

What works in a novel format does not fucking work in a visual format. Cuttlefish does not want people getting bored nor Impatient like how they tend to get in Volume 1 of the webnovel.

One of his changes when it comes to the Donghua was 100% adding Daly to episode 1 and 3. One of his biggest regrets from an earlier post was him not writing more of her.

At this point I feel like not being able to follow along and being confused about things is just a fucking skill Issue. Like if the Author himself loves the adaptation then their doing something right is all I'm going to say. Guy's probably just happy to not have to talk about shitty COI as much anymore.

Yep, there is just simply too much information and worldbuilding in Volume 1 that makes it Impossible to fully adapt.

Like every episode would be like an hour long and 30 minutes of that hour would just be nothing but exposition every single fucking episode.

Also a very large portion of the novel is in Klein's head and monologuing which does not nor will it ever work in a visual format.

You'd basically have the characters talk into their heads for like 20 minutes straight if they coped literally every single fucking monologue from the novel.

All in all, I'm kind of getting sick of retards not understanding how the Donghua is built. Season 1 from my understanding is basically going to be kind of similar to an Anthology series in that each episode builds up the world over time.

For example Episode 4 introduced us to the Aurora Order, Episode 5 to the Demoness Sect, episode 3 to the Secret Order, Episode 2 to the Nighthawks, Episode 1 to Klein/Zhou.

Episode 6 for example seems to be based around Azik.

You can in a sense easily see what their doing and how it'll work to bring everything together by the end of the season.

So shut up and trust the plan.

You faggots are acting like pausing to read is like telling you to kill your dog or some shit.

Like for example you fags saying that you are confused about the powers of the pathways when in the novel even Klein doesn't know what to expect when fighting people. He has to learn what the pathways and sequences of them do through fighting and context clues.

You learn for example about what a Witch is capable of during the Trissy fight in Volume 1. You are not specifically told what a Witch can do, you have to learn what a Witch can do by reading the fight and the context clues behind what Trissy is throwing at the Nighthawks and Klein.

You are expecting to know what the characters abilities are and what they can do before the fight actually happens when that's not how it works nor how it works in the novel. You are supposed to learn what a character is capable of and what their sequence is capable of during their fights.

This is not the case for the Seer Pathway of course as Klein auto-learns the abilities every time he advances.

I don't know what you tards were expecting from a series named as Lord of MYSTERIES , You are watching it with no patience at all., I Know lotm is not for everyone if you are not liking it or you are not in this genre just drop it . What you are saying like a broken record

>There is no plot , just random events are happening / characters are flat
IT is a series with 2500 + chapter's what kind of plot they want to see in just 5 ep ,let it cook .The donghua is really presented story in the simplest way in each ep we are getting information about different things like ep -4 was about aurora order ep 5 was about demoness sect , ep 1-3 were general introduction .It's just introduction

>Many things are left unanswered
You are asking what is gray fog , what is hornacis , flegra , etc like seriously did you watch 5 ep of one piece and went around the internet asking what is one piece? , from where devil fruits came ?, or watched tensura and solo levelling and asked what is system? and where did it came from ? , and you want answers from a series that has fucking MYSTERIES in its name . The things that you don't know because it is not supposed to be known .

>Power's are confusing
this is the most funny one , like they literally explain power system at the start of every ep and the powersystem that is introduced in 5 ep's is not even 0.001% of the whole things . So i really recommend you people who did't even understand the power system to just drop the series it's better

LOTM is literally one of best anime that is streaming right how i think the only animes streaming better than it are Takopi(a 6 ep series ) and one piece(in it's best arc) which are stupid to compare to a show like lotm .

SO yeah if you are not able to cope up with power system and world building that is shown till ep 5 just drop it

Statistically LOTM is actually doing pretty damn well for being based on a webnovel and being very complex. There are of course a bunch of other rating sites and LOTM is actually doing fairly well.

Fags that think the Donghua is flopping or failing or whatever are lying in bad faith.

Now of course it's doing far better in China which is a good thing because as long as it does good in China it shall never be canceled or anything such as that.

All in all, the contrarians as always are a minority but the ones with the biggest voices as they always are. Looking forward to the rest of the Season, the Special Episodes, and Season 2.

The only ones that can be blamed here are basically the director and maybe the scene writer of the donghua, that made every episode have a billion 5 second cuts in a 30 MINUTE EPISODE without giving people enough time to digest it. Frieren is a super slow anime all things considered and people enjoy the shit out of it, no need to rush things.

The story and lore is going to be properly presented its not going to be dumped in the first 7 episodes though. And exactly frieren is slower. It still is a turn off your brain anime. You want a slow pace build up of story and lore yet you want it dished out all at once. You have no idea what youโ€™re talking about. If you dont have the mental capacity to follow along, boruto is still running go check that out. Or rewatch solo leveling. Its a quick lore drop and full of action.

There are 3 entirely separate layers of possible fuck ups with the LotM donghua.

1. The actual adaptation. When there are actual adaptation issues.
Examples for that are the flashback scene in EP5 which seemed to go by extremely fast and avoidable mistakes such as showing short information texts at the beginning of episodes that might get easily overlooked due to credits also being displayed at the beginning, which is a problem in EP5 since that information text basically explains that it's a performance made for the survivors of a tragedy and not knowing that makes the scene unnecessarily more difficult to handle.

2. The localization. The early fuck-up by Crunchyroll (which to be fair we don't know if it's really CR's fault or Tencent's for providing the episodes/script way too late for them to get subbed in time initially) screwed over the understanding of the beyonder system in how pathways and sequences are structured, since EP2's introduction of the Nighthawks and their pathways+sequences was vital for that. With that missing, it created unnecessary misunderstandings about how it works. That's the main issue, but there are some other problems caused by the localization as well. Also the cutting of the chibi-shorts and old Neil's classroom, which, again, is hard to say whether the fault lies with Tencent or CR.

3. Skill issue. I saw a lot of times that there are still people who by EP4 don't even understand what a beyonder is. At a certain point you really can't use the donghua adaptation or its localization as excuses anymore. If you are a tiktok-brained retard who needs literally every little thing spoonfed, then there's no helping you. Ironically enough the novel is actually simple to understand since it really spoonfeeds most things, it's just a matter of memorizing it, though much of it gets repeated again when necessary as well. The donghua requires some "basic of the basics" comprehension ability though.

Don't ask me, ask the mods. The fact that the jannies haven't 404'd any of these threads yet also shows that the running orders to allow CN/KR stuff here is still in effect.

Honestly as a donghua only, I cant really say if pacing in the manga/novel is better or worse.

But as a standalone donghua watcher, in a vacuum, I swear its one of the greatest things I have ever watched. It might be possible that the story had EVEN MORE POTENTIAL, from what I have been hearing from the critics, which is actually stunning. But for now, I will trust the animators and the studio to explain everything and tie up ends later on.

As a reader, it had twice the potential, but it would need to change genre to be a closer to SoL interspersed with action, like Higurashi

Usually Japanese web-novels are first adapted into light novels, and then said light novels are directly adapted to anime.

It's like they don't understand that characters need to be developed and audiences have to get to know them to care. Instead they think they can just toss a random name at you, have something happen and provoke a dramatic response.
>Oh no I must save Donny Bonjour!
>Noooo Donny Bonjour died! This is so tragic! Poor Donny Bonjour! This is a crying scene!
Meanwhile the audience is wondering why the fuck they should care when all they know about Donny Bonjour is his name and that he was introduced 5 seconds ago. It makes no sense. How do the Chinese even see the world? Like aliens?

Yes, but Frieren is a manga-original, so it has nothing do with that regardless.

Meanwhile we've got additional dialogue and text added to all the previous eps by BC May to make comprehension easier, but it hasn't even shown up on CR.

Here as well, it's hard to tell if Tencent just failed to send CR (and WeTV?) the updates, or if CR did receive it, but just hasn't implemented it (yet).

15. I think when all this is done, someone needs to re-edit this stretch out scenes, insert Klein's internal monologue with AI, and insert the SoL from the the additional eps. Maybe dismantle the eps to recreate part of the novel flow.

I really hope someone does. Because it will show why it's a bad idea. It only seems like a great idea precisely because it doesn't exist so it's an imaginary abstract thing in everyone's minds that's just perfect and everything they hope it should be.
But when someone actually does it, all the different imagined scenarios collapse and other than maybe 5% who share the nearly exact same vision of the ideal that the creator of such a re-edit has, the remaining 95% will instead turn on him and tell all the stuff that he did wrong because their vision of how to implement it correctly is different.

Maybe it shouldn't have been a direct adaptation, but re-imagining, or at least rewritten? Web-serial/novel structure clearly does not mesh well with TV episodes, no matter how much they shuffle or cut it.
