I vaguely remember seeing something about the rights to the series being sold, and that there were plans of a reboot I think. It's been years now, so I don't know what happened with that, but I think a less restricted anime adaptation would be cool--something that isn't a monster of the week kids show. They can just cut the series into two, 12-episode seasons--first season being materializing Aelita, and second season resolving everything else; it shouldn't be that long.
There are still a few fans out there, but it's been years since the series ended, so it'd be a risk to adapt everything in its entirety, and it wouldn't be necessary to do so since it'd be a different medium and target demographic. Today's youth aren't interested in shows like this, so they should aim to appeal to nostalgiafags, as well as attract a general anime audience. Not sure what frogs think of this series--if they still think about it that is.
I remember reading some discussion about what Code Lyoko as an anime would look like. Someone brought up that if it were an anime, Aeilita would've materialized naked, and Jeremie would've had a nose bleed and passed out, which I thought was humorous and spot-on, if not a little cliche. Really, I think they should've adapted it in the early 2000's in the way I described, it would've been a classic I think.
