I think Asterick war had some more interesting fights in the LN but Rakudai's character dynamic between the main 2 was far more developed. I didn't really care much about Alexia or Ayato mainly because I found them both to be too immature, in contrast to Ikki and Stella who had a mature relationship which was better developed desu. I did like Asterick War's Ed a lot though. Rakudai had a pretty good op and ed too but Sakamoto Maaya is just too good.

Spirit Pledge single handedly funded all of the anime adaptation. The merchandise, light novel sales and BD sales were all pennies in comparison (even though kurumi merch sells like hotcakes in jp) to what Spirit Pledge made, the game was extremely P2W and greedy but also buggy which lead to it shutting it down. This is a good example of a decently written scene. I think it stumbled a bit after volume 9, around volume 16 it picked back up again and I liked the island arc even if the escalation of fights and world ending conflicts started to go off the rails, what kept me loving it was purely vol 19 and the ending. If the ending was shit and their was no wedding and conclusion to most of the loose ends I would of been pretty dissatisfied. Volumes 11-15 are mediocre and all over the place. The ending for me needs to be at least solid for me to give any story over a 6 and Rakudai stuck the landing really well. One of the few battle harems that I was left satisfied reading as most of these series have very vague or inconclusive finales, Rakudai didn't. It had a clear finale and the final battle was cool. The romance being pretty good which is already rare in this genre was what kept me reading after the seven stars arc. I think Ikki is a pretty cool guy too, if he was a limp dicked fag like 90% of light novel battle harems I would of dropped it. Stella becomes somewhat useless later on in the light novel but she still is a good character when it comes to her relationship dynamic between Ikki. It also helps that the anime adaptation for Rakudai is pretty good.

How long will it take J- Novel Club finish translating the entire series? I read up to volume 4 and enjoyed it a lot, I think volume 6 just released? Sol press got to volume 5 then the ceo went to jail so when J-Novel saved it I assumed it would take maybe a decade to finish all 17 volumes for the tl. I wont read the fan mtl, it's shit. Also while J-Novel doesn't do physical volumes I would prefer to buy them physically if they maybe let Yen Press or someone distribute it.

There is 19 total volumes, not 17. The final volume released in 2023 and it will take J-Novel likely around 6-8 years to finish the Rakudai tl from what I heard.
