Each Border Trigger by itself is weak, but they can combine mutiple of them making them very flexible.
We only saw Neighbors using like 3 triggers together at the same time instead of the massive 8 that Border can use.

I feel like that does their triggers a disservice. Afto designed their triggers around the fact that they have high trion values to make the most of it.

Ranbein would not have been as much of an issue as he was in the invasion if he had even something like full arms.
Because even if you slotted in a grass hopper you're still significantly less mobile (not to mention full arms would just add weight that makes grasshopper worse performing) and much more prone to attacks (you can't remain airborne for long under constant fire as trion bullets will delete grasshopper).

I actually think grasshopper is superior to the general issue Afto flight trigger. They're not really able to change directions and move out of the way of stuff very quickly. They seem to have a lower top speed than at least a small person like Yuma or Shun. They can't boost an ally out of danger. They can't launch other objects. And I'm fairly certain theirs eats through trion like mad. Ranbanein's is better, mostly in terms of speed. But he still got trolled by a spastic 14 year old with 5 trion and less than a year of combat experience.
But yes, they definitely design their triggers the way they do to take advantage of their high trion values. I just think the result of that is that, pound for pound, they don't get as much out of their warriors and their trion as border does.

Hovering is overrated. Even grasshopper users get shot out of the sky by snipers or, as in this match, cut down with senku. To stop moving is to invite death. That's why Ranbanein's was better since he could actually maneuver fairly well and at a good speed. But it was still not as nimble or versatile as grasshopper. Skilled grasshopper users can approximate flight. Ranbanein cannot approximate pinball no matter how good he is.

I usually just assume most gunners are not coordinated enough to be attackers, not smart enough to be shooters, lack the temparemant and skills to be a sniper, but are still good shots and have enough big picture thinking to act as supports. While I agree with some other anons that have said he might be an OK sniper, it does seem like he has the most aptitude for being a gunner.
He just needs to learn better positioning and situational awareness so he can be a better support. That's not really something new triggers will fix, but throwing on spider wouldn't hurt.
