I just watched Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle, and I honestly canโ€™t even begin to describe how it feels. The visuals are breathtaking, every scene feels like a work of art. The way the animation flows, the lighting, the detail, itโ€™s on another level. The emotional weight, the character moments, and the intensity of the fights hit so hard. Youโ€™re completely immersed. The whole experience made me remember why Anime is so goddamn good. Like FUCK! This is Anime

This. Demon Slayer is just a bog standard shounen battle manga wrapped in Taisho era aesthetics but never actually uses the time period the story is set. Most of the story takes place in a forest or running in corridors
Characters are modeled on shounen tropes, not traditional Japanese mythological archetypes
Also the demons in Demon Slayer aren't Oni like in Japanese folklore the slightest bit, they're just vampires Japanese paint

>Infinity Castle made all this money BEFORE it got an IMAX release.
Wrong. It launched with IMAX, 4DX, MX4D, Dolby Cinema: the full premium format war chest on Day 1. Multiple Yahoo Japan and Toho cinema scheduling reports confirm this. In fact, a huge chunk of the opening day headlines came from how many premium screen showings it monopolized. So unless you're living in an alternate dimension, you just flat-out faceplanted into misinformation.
>anyone pretending it has not achieved a legendary status in terms of popularity is kidding themselves.
In Japan, it's a phenomenon. To the rest of the world, it's just another bog standard shounen battle manga and thry're a dime a dozen. Anyway, no one is denying that Demon Slayer is huge in Japan. I certainly never did. BUT, here's the nuance that you underage fans canโ€™t grasp: being extremely popular =/= being in an unprecedented phenomenon state forever.

Mugen Train was lightning in a bottle:
>A post-anime boom continuation
>Peak pandemic vacuum
>No competition
>Cultural moment status
>Normie and non-anime crossover appeal
>Slow-burn legs for over a year
Infinity Castle is:
>A hardcore fan drop
>Part 1 out of 3 of a trilogy
>Frontloaded like a K-pop album drop
>Oversaturated with premium formats to secure headlines
>Running headfirst into summer competition within two weeks
Anonymous
7/22/2025, 10:51:51 AM No.280805363
Second, this entire spectacle ONLY makes Mugen Train look god-tier in hindsight. In fact, Mugen Train is FAR more impressive than Infinity Castle if we talk value, legs, and legacy.

Mugen Train:
>No IMAX saturation gimmicks
>No national holiday launch
>No bundled merch or 18 screenings per day
>Just raw demand, and held screens for months
>Went from fan hit to mainstream phenomenon to a generational legend
And most importantly: ยฅ40.4B at a time when the yen was ~108 to 1 USD = $370M+ domestic alone. Compare that to Infinity Castle: even if it hits ยฅ30B, at today's rate (ยฅ158-160/USD) that's only ~$190M.

Same local success in yen, drastically less impact in global metrics. And general public are already saying stuff like this movie is "too long," "three parts," etc. Even Japanese box office analysts are saying it won't repeat Mugen Trainโ€™s trajectory.

This isn't some massive L for Demon Slayer, it's still big in Japan. But it's no longer historic. It's just successful and that spotlights just how rare and untouchable Mugen Train really was.

TL;DR: Infinity Castle needs every screen, every boost, every holiday, just to maybe match half of Mugen Train's raw flex.

7/22/2025, 11:00:59 AM No.280805446
Third, legs are WAY more important than opening. Any cinephile and any amateur box office analyst would you tell that. Opening weekend is just hype. It tells you how big your fanbase is, how well your marketing worked, and how many people were waiting for your movie. But that's not box office dominance, that's just the launch. If your movie drops 60%+ in Week 2, all that hype just burned out.

Legs is the cultural penetration. Legs (i.e., how well a movie holds week after week) reflect:
>General audience appeal
>Word of mouth
>Rewatchability
>Low competition survival
Mugen Train was a once-in-a-generation outlier because it had both:
>A monstrous opening
>And unreal legs (weeks and weeks of minimal drop-off during a pandemic with no competition)
Most movies don't get both. And Infinity Castle is fan-heavy, frontloaded, and will struggle to hold once Week 3 hits, especially with Jurassic World and other blockbusters waiting to cannibalize screens.

Hell, Jurassic World: Rebirth is crushing the long game. ~$648M in 18 days is fantastic. And it's racking for $700M+ this weekend and possibly $800M+ too. THAT'S legs. Why? Because normalfags, not just die-hard dino fans, are showing up week after week. That's how a movie goes from "hit" to "monster." Even Japanese fans are concerned Jurassic World will cut Infinity Castle's box office short. The fanboys screaming "WE WON!" on Day 1 are just underage children (like the vast majority of Demon Slayer fans) who think races end at the starting line.

You know what else was shounen set in the Taisho period? Kenshin. Does anyone seriously think KnY in any way whatsoever seriously competes with KENSHIN? Fuck off. Although itโ€™s not a movie and just an OVA series, compare the artistry and talent of Trust & Betrayal to this flashing lights CGI slowmo shitfest and seriously with a straight face tell me itโ€™s not vastly superior in terms of visual impact, story-telling, emotion, etc. I canโ€™t believe zoomers are this fucking hopeless that I even have to educate them about shounen legends like Kenshin as they go ga-ga over this trash.

Just watched the movie. The Demon Slayer movies really are just regular Demon Slayer episodes but with the CGI and effects turned up to 11.
The animation isn't any better outside of having 10x more slow motion shots, and 10x more CGI explosions. You'd expect better from them for the finale, but I guess more of the same is what we're getting, and thats okay if you're already happy with what the anime has been giving us.
Though don't be tricked by people calling it a cinematic masterpiece. That's just the usual cinema bias that you get because of watching something on a larger screen with surround sound (The reason why people called Dandadan and Bleach "movie quality" when the early screenings happened), it looks the same as it always did besides the massive panning shots of large CGI areas, and the explosion/effects violating your eyes the entire time.

Tetsuya Chiba is not the author box Ashita no Joe, he's just an artist. And him reading KnY doesn't mean shit, it just means that Japan, like any other country, is full of normalfags with shit taste who hate exiting their comfort zones. Japan is the same country that dismissed Shogun that's one of the best portrayals of feudal Japan and the best jidaigeki we had in decades simply because it wasn't made in Japan. The same countrt where Hiroyuki Sanada the modern day Toshiro Mifune had to leave Japan and was more valued in the West because Takuya Kimura dominated the Japanese film industry.

Plus, Tetsuya Chiba is just a mangaka. Him reading KnY means nothing, just like it doesn't mean anything with Togashi. He's not an auteur like Miyazaki who dismisses your favorite bog standard shounen battle manga.

I dont know man, I definitely liked it, it was one of the best fights of KNY, but Tengen vs Gyutaro was in the same range of animation quality and choreography (besides the use of more CG in the case of Akaza vs Giyuu).
It didnt wow me compared to what we've seen in the previous seasons + Mugen Train. It felt like more of the same.

And when he saw Kaigaku was the new Upper Moon Six he said "so there are five other Upper Moons?" which makes me really hope Ufotable creates an anime only Upper Moon 5, because it was always weird that spot was vacant for some reasons, but Nakime gets UM4 spot

A central theme of KnY is legacy, what you left behind once you die and immortality throught deeds rather than flesh. Muzan seek immortality but only for himself and once he die, no one remember about him, he left nothing on Earth. Meanwhile Yoriichi saved countless people during his time, each of those people would go on and give birth to the next generation. Yoriichi might die but his legacy live on through the people he helped and the art he created.

LMAO. You stupid underage child. The ENTIRE WORLD measures global box office dominance in USD. That's not an opinion, it's how the international industry functions. Studios don't market "ยฅ40B worldwide!" They don't give a shit how many toy capsule coins you made in Tokyo, they care about global impact. The USD is the scoreboard, period. Saying "conversion doesn't matter" is like saying "points don't matter in a basketball game." Delusional.
>From the person who said it was borderline dead and people were fatigued.
Yes and what is happening?
>A giant, explosive opening fueled by holiday marketing, premium format saturation, and bundling.
>Core fans showing up hard on opening weekend.
>But signs already appearing (even in Japan) that legs will not match Mugen Train.
>Fanbase concentrated in frontloaded events.
>General audience already showing less crossover appeal.
That is fatigue. Not collapse. Not flop. Just diminishing returns after peak saturation, exactly like Weathering With You after Your Name. The franchise still draws. But it's no longer an untouchable, cross-demo juggernaut.
>Can't wait until it breaks its own record, again.
The record it's breaking is Day 1 admissions, rofl. It used holiday placement and format inflation to spike short-term numbers. Again: opening day isn't everything. If it doesn't sustain, and the general public drops off after Week 2, you're left with the exact thing I predicted:
>Huge frontload.
>Burned momentum.
>Strong domestic, but not leggy enough to match 2020ยฟ
>Lower global due to exchange rate and no China.

>why is Sun Breathing incredibly special and unique among the Breaths?
Partly due to red herring. Yoriichi was the original Sun Breathing master and he was so legendary that everyone though his style must be something special. The fact that he didn't teach anyone and no one else learn it after he died only turn it into legendary status. Yoriichi however advised against this mindset as he believed that everyone has their own strong point and one should just pursuit what they are good at rather than chasing him.
>Tanjiro just randomly showed up compatible because of luck or something?
Because Tanjirou learned it since he was young like every first sons in his family. It's tradition that the oldest male took up the dance.
>Earrings are totally irrelevant?
It's the gift that Yoriichi left behind as a token of friendship between him and Tanjirou's ancestor.

The closer the demons to its death, the less grip Muzan has on them which allow Akaza to regain his memory and more importantly, his sense of honor. He accept that Tanjirou won that fight by delivery the killing blow and as a martial artist, cheating death to win is dishonor.

>one piss, dragon shit, my cuck academia?
They're all slop, but they all have something distinctive and a redeeming quality unlike Demon Slayer.
>One Piece
Has an intricate worldbuilding right down to an autistic detail. Oda's ability to foreshadow events sometimes two decades in advance is probably the series greatest aspect. Demon Slayer has no worldbuilding and the author is terrible at foreshadowing (like Tamayo/Shinobu's asspull poison).
>Dragon Ball
Is drawn by a talented artist with a fantastic sense of composition and paneling. The fight choreography alone puts it above every other battle shounen slop. Demon Slayer's manga art sucks donkey balls and looks like it was drawn by a 10-year-old child. The fights are even more atrocious and reads like a PowerPoint presentation because the talentless hack can't communicate the action through the art.
>MHA
The god-tier art and porn are the only redeeming qualities. The author is a hack, but he's maxed out his drawing skills and he can actually draw attractive female characters. The Demon Slayer hack can't draw attractive females to save his life life. They all look like Naruto OCs you'd find on DeviantArt. It also has zero good porn, all of it is gay porn with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke or the autistic Water Hashira. In this respect, MHA beats Demon Slayer for having better spank material.

Yeah I always thought the Kaigaku bit was a little twisted, a child selling out his family so he doesn't get torn to shreds is pretty understandable and if his survival at all costs personality sprang from that you can't really blame him even if it's very ugly. I think you could still have the same plot but just have a tinge of melancholy about it instead of just pure yeah fuck that guy

He was an orphaned loser and coward who was roped into the whole thing. But he still tried his best because he finally found a family, a teacher who was devoted to him, and a senpai he looked up to. Zenitsu was never destined for anything, he never even unlocked the mark. He mastered the shit out of the first form, as Gramps instructed him to, and created a new one, not even for himself, but to fight along with Kaigaku. Zenitsu is a great character, and normalfags are literally filtered by him. Kimetsu is a simple story with simple characters, but /a/ genuinely has issues comprehending it.

If nothing else, I really liked how the movie communicated how implacable the demons felt. I mean they just keep growing back their limbs, fighting Akaza is a nightmare. You chop off his arms and he just gets it back a second later.
Then he throws you headfirst through like three pillars and have a building, and you lose your kidney and most of your lung.
Like he doesn't even need martial arts at that point, he just needs to keep hitting you until you keel over from attrition.

The fable structure is that Zenitsu only has the first form and Kaigaku has every other form while being more virtuous in almost every way - he's hard working, ambitious, and tough. But he doesn't want to help and be loved by other people, and Zenitsu does, and if you don't have the first step right all the rest are for nothing.

Zenitsu isn't even a genuine coward at the end of the day. He protected Nezuko against Inosuke despite not even knowing what was inside that box; all he knew was that it was extremely precious to Tanjirou. Meanwhile, Kaigaku had zero qualms about becoming a demon, consequences be damned, just so he could still live. Wani really is an underrated writer.

Kaigaku really should have had more screen time and had a larger presence in the earlier seasons. Then we might give a damn about his betrayal and fight with Zenitsu. If Kaigaku was at final selection and we got to see him at different points as this kind of gigachad bully character who picks on the other Demon Slayers, then it would be better. Instead all of that is unloaded on us in like 3 minutes of backstory with Zenitsu before he kills him.

Zenitsu versus Gaygoku was the C-tier fight of this movie. All the movies should have a small fight scene between bigger fight scenes. The second movie can have Mitsuri and Obanai versus Nakime (and it can end with them "dying" from Muzan's perspective, but it's just Yushiro's trick). And the third movie could have an anime only fight scene with the retired hashira versus some other demon or UM5. Otherwise the third movie will only have two fight scenes.... Muzan versus everyone and everyone versus DKT.

I'm not seething, I'm scrutinizing. You just can't tell the difference between criticism and coping, because you're too emotionally entangled with the franchise.

Also: you say I'm obsessed while you're writing essays about me. That's not projection, that's full-on worship. You're like my biggest fangirl.
>>280809694
And? You can't criticize something youโ€™re informed about? That's like saying a sports analyst can't break down a team's performance because they watched all the games, rofl.

I've been more right about this film's trajectory than 90% of the screeching fandom. Being familiar with the IP doesn't make my takes invalid, it makes them informed.
>>280809712
Sony's financials aren't your personal W. Demon Slayer making Aniplex/Sony money doesn't mean this movie is untouchable. And I never ever claimed it would flop financially, lmao.

What I said (correctly) was:
>It wouldnโ€™t replicate Mugen Trainโ€™s miracle.
>It's frontloaded to hell and back
>The yen collapse kills the international prestige
>The long tail will struggle in a hyper-competitive summer
All of which are playing out exactly as I projected. And no, $200M on a $10โ€“20M production is not a loss, but itโ€™s not unprecedented or culture-defining either. Demon Slayer's no longer a once-in-a-generation boom. It's just another big franchise doing what big franchises do: open big, fade faster. You're just mad I'm not worshipping it like you wants everyone else to.

>No Jimbo, you are obsessed with it there's a difference. "Informed" people don't spam fanart for months or goad people into killing threads.
Nice projection, loser. You just described yourself in a sentence meant to roast someone else. Who's the one digging up Reddit profiles? Screenshotting comments like an unmedicated ex-girlfriend? Spamming every admissions update like it's a Super Bowl score? If this were a relationship, you'd be the stalker that can't stop texting "WHO IS SHE?" every time box office trends shift 2%. You're pathetic.
>Literally only you care about this, after realizing it's doing crazy in Japan
Nope. EVERYONE with a brain who analyzes international box office cares about international prestige. You know who else cares?
>Studios (because global prestige boosts licensing, sequels, brand power)
>Distributors (because they use that momentum to bargain in foreign markets)
>Investors (because they measure ROI in USD, not otaku tears)
>Media analysts (because rankings matter more in dollars than in yen)
Saying "only you care about this" is like saying "only you care about profit margins on a business call." It's retarded.
>It's going to do 300m+ by the way, biggest international numbers for an anime movie in quite a while too.
This is where the delusion peaks like Tanjiro's forehead vein. FACTS: ยฅ20B domestic = ~$125M USD. Even with aggressive overseas, you'd be lucky to scrape $75Mโ€“90M internationally. That still puts $200M-$220M as a realistic ceiling, not your fanfiction $300M cope. Want to beat Mugen Trainโ€™s $504M? You'd need:
>China (which Infinity Castle isn't even releasing in, dead on arrival)
>Western breakout (not happening, DS fatigue is real outside Asia, JJK, DanDaDan and Solo Leveling are the new hot topic anime)
>Long legs internationally (good luck with summer competition + September dump + month 155-minute runtime)
The only thing this movie is "breaking" is its replay value and maybe your blood pressure.

Nah, faggot. That's called nuance, something your smooth Discord brain can't parse. Hereโ€™s what was actually said (and repeatedly, because your memory's worse than your media literacy):
>Mugen Train was a once-in-a-generation hit.
True.
>It was amplified by COVID circumstances.
Also true.
>It benefited from no competition and captive audiences.
True again.
>It survived under limited capacity and made that run anyway.
Yep and the fact that it thrived despite restrictions is part of what made its legs so mythical.

That's not contradiction, that's what a real analyst does. Layers context on top of context to give a full picture. Not just "WOO NUMBERS GO UP YEAHHH!!"
>kimetsu is going to make more money than almost all anime movies.
In yen, maybe. In USD adjusted for exchange rate and inflation? Not even top five. The yen is weaker than your argument. A ยฅ20B+ run today is a ยฅ13โ€“14B run in 2020 money. You can't scream โ€œHISTORIC!โ€ when the currency itself is tanking 35%. That's like bragging your house is worth $1 million pesos. Even Japanese analysts on Yahoo Japan have pointed this out multiple times. You're not in uncharted waters, you're just ignoring the tide.

Cool stat. Also irrelevant to the discussion at hand. You know what else broke ยฅ20B?
>Frozen
>The Last Samurai
>Transformers 3
Breaking ยฅ20B doesn't mean it's a cultural moment. It just means it sold a lot of tickets, that's all. If Infinity Castle does that? Good. It'll be a major hit in Japan, but it still wonโ€™t:
>Match Mugen Train's phenomenon status
>Reach that $500M worldwide
>Or achieve the same long-tail legacy internationally

Keyword: PROJECTED. Not confirmed. Not guaranteed. Not "already did." And guess what? ยฅ30B = ~$188M USD. I already said ยฅ15-20B realistic, ยฅ30B optimistic. I'm still in range. >Also kimetsu's international prestige is mogging basically every other anime movie
Wrong. Demon Slayer's international presence is very Japan-dependent. It doesn't dominate in Western box offices the way:
>Pokemon movies did in the Pokemania
>Dragon Ball Super: Broly did in the US
>Or even how Studio Ghibli does across Europe and America
It does fine, but "$100M international guaranteed" is cope-tier fantasy when the last two theatrical releases struggled to make a dent outside Asia. Unless China suddenly lets it in (they won't), it's going to hit a wall.

That's not a backtrack, that's a prediction range. I've been saying since day one:
>ยฅ15-20B domestic yen (~$125M USD given the ยฅ160 exchange rate)
>+ $60-75M internationally (if Korea, SEA, Taiwan, and maybe US show up)
>= $180-200M worldwide total
That's a ballpark, not a hard ceiling. Every credible analyst does this. It's called not being a delusional toddler screaming "LOCKED IN." I'm dealing in probability, not prophecy. If the film legs out and reaches $225M? Still within stretch range. If it stalls at $170M? Still plausible given the frontload and exchange rate. If it hits $600M? Then it's a literal divine miracle and all logic dies. So no, I'm not moving goalposts. I set the field, marked the wind, measured the throw, and the ball is still flying exactly where I aimed.
>>280812396
LMAO. This is pure desperation. I never said the recap movies = this one. I referenced recent Demon Slayer theatrical releases (like Swordsmith Village) to show a clear trend:
>The Western box office enthusiasm is cooling
>Overseas appeal isn't scaling past anime fans.
>Japan still hard-carries
That's called pattern recognition. That's why analysts bring up past performance to set expectations. It's not about "equal value", it's about trajectory. You saw me mention recap box office and thought that meant "he's saying Infinity Castle is the same movie!" You're just having reading comprehension issues caused by emotional swelling.

Nakime fight (before Yushiro comes in) is like 10 pages in the manga, if that. It's also pretty unsatisfactory until the fake out deaths and the Yushiro part. They just bounce around the moving blocks and fail to get close to her and say she's annoying. That's not 15 minutes worthy honestly. That's a 3 minute scene. Nakime isn't taken over by Yushiro until Muzan breaks out and starts fighting Tanjiro and the other demon slayers, and he gets tricked before Iguro and Mitsuri come in to attack him.
If the Part 2 is as long as Part 1, then I predict either...
>45 minute Doma fight and 100 minute Kokushibo fight, plus some scenes of Tanjiro/Giyu/Zenitsu/Kiryia between it all
OR
>30 minute Doma fight, 90 minute Kokushibo fight, 20 minute anime only retired hashira fight, and then extra scenes

You really tried to pull the dumb Shazam meme against me, but it doesn't work because it's not a timeline, it's just a fanboy fever dream strung together like a conspiracy corkboard. I never said it would flop. I never said it's fail to break 10B. I consistently said:
>ยฅ1520B domestic is realistic
>$180โ€“200M global unless overseas goes nuclear
>Strong opening =/= legendary legs
>Mugen Train's success was a cultural anomaly in a vacuum.
You're inventing imaginary statements just to "win" a debate against a version of me that only exists in your head. That's desperation with a side of projection.
>>280812770
Because, retard, global box office analysis uses USD. That's how you stack international franchises up next to each other. Japanese companies can wave a flag around ยฅ20B all day, but it doesn't mean jack on the international leaderboard if the exchange rate is so rotten it converts to $125M. This isnโ€™t hard. I'm not invalidating Japan's success by converting to USD, I'm contextualizing it. If ยฅ40.4B in 2020 was $370M, and ยฅ40.4B in 2025 is $255M, then yes, same amount of butts in seats, but smaller global footprint. That's just basic math. Not cope, not bias, njust uncomfortable arithmetic your underage brain refuses to digest.
>>280812823
Not feeling threatened the slightest bit by your hopium, rofl. Day 1-3 was the inflated, engineered climax. After that? It has to hold, and nothing so far has guaranteed that:
>Weekday admissions already show signs of non-fanbase fatigue
>Theater chains have length-related scheduling issues
>Kamen Rider, Fantastic Four, and Jurassic World are coming for those premium formats
>General audience buzz is lower than Mugen Train. Cinephile circles are louder with complaints this time
So if you want to pretend it's a straight line from 8B to 20B in a week and then 40B by credits roll, do what you want to do (I don't care lol). But that's not a forecast, that's delusion with a countdown.

Actually beat an Akatsuki member and landed the final blow on Kaguya. She's a shitty character, but miles ahead of the blank slates that are Demon Slayer's female characters and a FAR more realistic portrayal of women. Kanao got beat around and lost an eye, Shinobu jobbed like the background character she is, and Mitsuri is a gag character who's also a punching bag.

Also true, because Nobara as shitty as she is herself, also landed the final blow on Sukuna. There's a reason why Gege wrote her out of Shibuya, because she's the only character who can trivialize him.

She also has better porn, give or take. Gege is pretty bad at drawing females, but he struck gold by making Nobara a mesugaki.

You're reaching so hard that you're about to dislocate a shoulder, lmfao. What the tweet says:
>What's great about the Demon Slayer movies is that they didn't do things like 'an original movie Hashira,' or 'a demon so powerful it had to be sealed away,' or 'the lost, forbidden breathing technique' stuff. You hear that, My Hero Academia? What the hell is Dark Might, seriously."
Which has fuck all to do with the discussion at hand. It's an opinion tweet praising narrative restraint. Not ticket sales, not release windows, not runtime logistics, not international legs. Narrative restraint. The tweet isn't about seat counts, isn't about saturation, and sure as fuck isn't a "gotcha" against my well-supported analysis of the movie's performance. My argument is about box office legs, market trends, and fan-driven frontload, not whether Infinity Castle is canon (it is, obviously). This is the fanboy equivalent of losing a chess game and pointing to a different board saying, "See?! Iโ€™m winning over here!!" You fucking idiot.

I think there's a misconception about what Wani was going for with the female characters. Look at Mitsuri for example. It's obvious that in the flashbacks, or portrayed in the present day how she behaves (you can see this with her choice of words for specifically), and how she reacts to appearances of Tanjiro and Tengen. It's small things like that, whereas with Shinobu, she's portrayed as entirely bust, and her emotions are at best, your opinions on it can't say otherwise because I think the storytelling speaks more about hogmas brotel that any previous characters. Look back at chapter 1 vs the final chapter. The difference is MASSIVE by comparison. It's not even attributed fully to character development, this is how Wani writes her characters. Like a pea in a bucket of coffee. You don't drink it because it tastes bad. Same ideology here. Shinobu is like the pea, Mitsuri is like the coffee, and the universe of Demon Slayer is the bucket.

I'm not a manga purist, so I think original anime content is welcome as long as the writers are good enough. I wouldโ€™ve loved for Douma to get his own cult arc before the Infinity Castle, maybe one where the heroes fail to kill him in that same arc, ending the conflict in the trilogy movie.
The problem is I donโ€™t think the Ufotable team is that good at writing, so Iโ€™d rather the "filler" be minimal in this case.
The padding with Sanemi, Snek, and Mui was okay, but I think if Ufo tried more than that, theyโ€™d be biting off more than they can chew.

Elite group of good guys is a safe bet for franchising and merchandise, this has been proven since all the way back with the Gold Saints from Saint Seiya and their modern counterpart with the Gotei 13 from Bleach, their colorful designs are easy to make popular, and when they hit with audiences then the merchandise pool increase several fold as they are a group.

Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Nezuko had plenty of focus already, all very popular in their own right, the Pillars were the next step to expand the audience response.

Is there any character as spat on by Ufotable as Tanjiro?
[Manga]
> Fight starts, both Giyu and Tanjiro attack Akaza in small intervals and in rapid succession, Giyu gets btfo to the stratosphere 1 page after.
[Movie]
> Giyu starts fighting Akaza by himself while Tanjiro who was very close by is nowhere to be seen, the time it takes for him to make new interventions is also increased a lot.
[Manga]
> After Giyu gets sent away Tanjiro fights an angry Akaza by himself, dealing with named BDA techniques and even landing counters in between.
[Movie]
> Gives nowhere as much love and additional content to Tanjiro's 1v1 against Akaza even though he endured it for way more pages than Giyu.

It is like they always try their best to make him seem as weak and carried by others/asspulls powerups as possible.

Itโ€™s pretty clear, IMO, that Muzan selected UMs based not on their ability but on how much he liked them, personally. The rankings within the UMs may be based on their combat ability, but thereโ€™s no way shitters like Daki, Gyutaro, Gyokko and Hantengu should be on the same level as the top 3, making it feel like there are only actually 3 Upper Moons. Iโ€™m not sure what Muzan liked about Gyutaro and Daki, maybe he was tickled by the idea of eternally cucking Gyutaro or something? Or it could be that heโ€™s just a fan of super-tragic fates like theirs? Itโ€™s certainly not their combat ability that he valued, clearly.

I'm about to be honest with you all. I never wanted to breed with anyone more than I want to with Mitsuri. Yes, I'm serious. That perfect, slim body. Those completely and utterly gargantuan breasts bordering on being downright obese. A literal hippopotamus. The pantyshot potential of a literal goddess. It honestly fucking hurts knowing that I'll never mate with her, pass my genies through her, and have her birth a set of perfect offspring to which we can spend the rest of our happy lives taking excellent care of them. I'd do fucking ANYTHING for the chance to get Mitsuri pregnant. A N Y T H I N G. And the fact that I can't is quite honestly too much to fucking bear. Why would Croc, Wani, Gotouge, Miyazaki, and ufotable create something so astoundingly perfect? To fucking tantalize us? Fucking laugh in our faces?! Give us a good slap in the dick and call it a day? Honestly guys, and I'm dead serious here, I just fucking can't anymore.

The desire to mate, the need for breed, any way you put it, none of it has ever been felt this intense before in my entire life of watching anime and consuming fictional universes. I would do so many things to just her thighs alone, and that's only the start. I would give her a sloppy helicopter just because I can. I would pump her tight butt like it was nobody's business. I would even go as far as to drink her pee if she ever needs to go when there's no toilet around. God, Jesus, all the gods listening and Buddha, all I ask for is a chance to burst inside of her, beyond the limitation. And I'm talking Raging Boner Burst here. We would assimilate so well together that she would feel the very core of my being pulsating inside and out. There are no words that exist to describe my immense love for this specimen of perfection, Mitsuri Kanroji.

I finished watching this series recently and liked it so much that I read the manga to continue it. I think it's an unironic 9.5/10 series, with a few small critiques here or there. I think my biggest issue is the way stakes are handled for the most part. If I were to rewrite parts of the story, it would probably be something like:

Mugen Train: Rengoku dies like usual.

Red Light: Daki/Gyutaro fight goes the same but this time, Uzui and Inosuke both die. Uzui from his wounds, and Inosuke from being stabbed by Gyutaro. Daki/Gyutaro die like usual.

Village: Muichiro dies to Gyokko, and then Gyokko escapes and leaves Hantengu to fend off the rest. The only death vs Hantengu is Nezuko, where she is burned up by the sun. Hantengu dies like usual.

Fortress: Rengoku's father joins with Tanjiro and Giyuu to fight Akaza. Giyuu and Akaza die. Shinobu and Marked Zenitsu encounter Kaigaku, who would be more buffed up in this version to reflect the strength of an upper moon proper. Zenitsu is incapable of defeating him alone. All three of them die, Zenitsu and Kaigaku trade killing blows. Urokadaki shows up and finds Gyokko. After a near death 1v1 battle, Tanjiro and Rengoku's father show up, and the three of them take out Marked Gyokko. Kanao, Mitsuri, and Obanai fight Douma. Douma kills Kanao and Mitsuri, and Obanai lands the finishing blow on Douma. The fight with Koku is virtually the same as normal, except without Muichiro since Gyokko killed him in the previous arc. Obanai joins in, now enraged, and helps fight Koku. Koku and Genya die.

After: Tanjiro, Rengoku's Father, Urokadaki, Obanai, Himejima, and Sanemi battle Muzan. Rengoku's Father and Urokadaki perish, and Muzan laughs, but then is burnt by the sun light. Tanjiro becomes a demon like normal, and he kills Obanai. Himejima restrains Tanjiro while Sanemi lands a killing blow. Tanjiro is dead. Himejime dies shortly after from exhaustion and malfunction. Sanemi is the sole survivor.

They already looks extremely similar, to the point where nearly everyone first watching/reading confuse them for each other. I think the originally script had yoriichi as Tanjiro's dad but it was changed last minute. People who didn't think they were related missed basic clues implying that they were related, and thus were not surprised to find out that they ended up not being related. Either that, or the writing is at fault for not getting enough people to think that they were related, which it was clearly intending to do. By admitting that you didn't think that Yoriichi was Tanjiro's dad, you are admitting one of two things. Either A) You are not observant enough and missed the writer's attempts at trying to make it seem like they were related (this implies low IQ), or B) you are indirectly faulting the writing and pointing out a flaw with the series because it failed to trick enough people into thinking that they were related despite that being the intention. In either case, either the one who didn't get tricked is at fault, or the one doing the writing of the series is at fault. There are no other ways to look at it.

I don't think Shinobu is the weakest pillar, but she's not the fastest either. Compare to Sanemi who can blitz wrong Koku, and Shinobu couldn't even avoid Douma who is slower. Then in my opinion there is Giyuu whose speed is undetermined, but his power against an upper moon is far greater than Shinobu or Kanao's. Even if Shinobu is marked, she'd barely match default Giyuu without the mark, and that's the bare minimum.

Not as like the Giyuu would have survived Akaza even when marked, or if Akaza had the mark, he wouldn't have survived Rengoku having the mark as long as Giyuu having the mark. And maybe if Rengoku had access through the see too world, then Giyuu marked fighting Akaza marked (full powered) would have been underpowered by comparison unless Rengoku was an upper moon, in which case Upper moon marked could have had a more fair fight against Giyuu (marked, see through world) unless he reduced his battle spirit to bypass his compass, in which case Giyuu (marked) could defeat Rengoku (upper moon, see through world) if Akaza was also teaming up on him (without battle spirit). So something along the lines of:

Rengoku (Upper moon, no battle spirit) > Giyuu (Marked, see through world) > Akaza (no battle spirit) > Giyuu (Compass) > Rengoku (Marked) > Giyuu (Marked) > Giyuu > Rengoku > Shinobu (Marked) > Shinobu

This doesn't take the account considered for other pillars though. I honestly think Obanai (Marked, Upper Moon) could take Himejima and Giyuu (Both See the world) without poison if Giyuu wasn't present, or something along the lines of Rengoku (Battle spirit) fighting Giyuu (Moon breathing, marked) instead. But it's hard to gauge.

There are 10 things every episode/movie needs to be considered great. On an out of 10 scale, add or subtract each point to determine what number out of 10 the episode is. Here are the requirements:

1. Good pacing
2. Animation is above average
3. Voice actors do a good job
4. Music is memorable
5. Nozomu Abe is involved
6. Zero asspulls/high stakes
7. Art direction, colors, composition, and compositing are above average
8. At least one panty shot is present
9. Episode bleeds well into the next episode, and the previous episode bleeds well into this one (or movie has a proper beginning, middle, and end(
10. No flashbacks in the middle of the fight

So for example, the greatest episode so far is Never Give up, Season 2 episode 10, and it hits a whopping 8 out of 10 of these required things which makes it an 8/10 episode, which is honestly impressive in its own right since most anime fail to hit even half of these points on their best episodes. How would you rate the latest movie using this metric?

>Amazing Tuesday
Okay? Tuesday being decent doesn't undo the fact that the film blew its load early with:
>A national holiday opening
>Premium IMAX/4DX saturation,
>Event screenings
>And a literal marathon rollout.
If it isn't pulling monster weekday numbers, that's actually a red flag. It needs to hold like a monster just to approach Mugen Train, which had absurd weekday consistency with far less screen inflation. I never said weekdays would flop, I said it would flatten early and struggle with legs. Still pending, and still the key metric. Your dumbass is pretending the race ended after Lap 2.
>But you didn't? You were boasting about how it could get 4 shows a day
Nope. You just misquoted me, hard. I said theatrical bottlenecks would hit later and I literally cited Yahoo Japan saying the long runtime was already causing screen congestion. My point was:
>Theaters gave it saturation now, but it canโ€™t hold that forever in a crowded summer window
And guess what? That's true. Kamen Rider, Fantastic Four and Jurassic World will be cutting into its formats by Week 3, especially IMAX and 4DX. It's math. Your memory is as cooked as your logic.
>Which is called "the yen is shit now" everyone knows that.
Then why were you screaming about record-breaking grosses in USD two days ago? I explained the exchange rate's impact on perception and global standing, not just raw yen totals. The fact that you're now admitting the yen is crap just proves I already won that angle. You're retrofitting my arguments as "obvious" after denying them earlier.
>Hopefully the lack starts materializing soon
This is hilarious. You're now hoping my forecast comes true because your narrative depends on disproving it, but legs aren't decided by Tuesday or Wednesday. They're proven by Week 3+ performance after the noise fades. The fact you're reduced to sarcastic hoping tells me exactly how much you're sweating.

You WILL imagine the excruciating intricacies of an enraged, boner-hating Daki being forced by a post-retired, single-armed, rock solid boner-having Tengen Uzui to perform raw tinnitus-inducing, earth-shattering, face squatting until inevitable fatal suffocation with obligatory complementary dehydrated urine-boarding straight from the demon's source, complete with nonchalant commentary spoken by the Upper Moon within her, praising her effortless techniques as she makes the human breathe their last and their now lifeless corpse being doused to the brim with her monster energy nectar that she's being straining herself to hold within the confines of her otherworldly bladder for the better half of a century (in Japanese time) during her lust-provoking, daily rough cock-bouncing time in the Red Light District (also known as the Entertainment District) in which many human men had participated in a series of sexual acts with her, putting pressure on her ungodly bladder to which she expressed immense anxiety every waking moment of the frequent, waist-grabbing, ass-pounding, vaginal prone-boning sexual intercourse that the floodgates between her century-old thighs would violently burst open in a bout of relentless urine firing out on all cylinders, catastrophically soaking the male she would be having cock-throbbing, breast-bouncing, plap-making sex with, inducing a frenzied state of hyper-realistic embarrassment, the likes of an event that would result in an uncontrollable urge to murder the temporary partner in a most swift manner in order to carefully ensure that her masquerading-beauty legacy isn't tarnished by a pee-soaked customer who is utterly overcome by a compelling force that makes him return home that night and tell everyone about what happened, to which the word will spread across Japan over the course of several long decades, ruining Daki for good without an honest care in the world, which sparks prostitutes everywhere to start wetting themselves.

>It's literally raping the competition
It outperformed a soft-launch Superman in Japan, a country that's never cared about Western superheroes after taking all the premium formats and attempting to momentarily halt the competition, rofl. I said that from the beginning. Also, F4 hasn't released yet, it drops in 3 days. So does Kamen Rider, while Jurassic World drops August 8. So what are you even arguing against? A preemptive fantasy?

Second, Kokuhou is picking up cinephile steam and grabbing more late-night blocks because Japanese cinephiles are trying to counter Demon Slayer. They're resentful of TV anime dominating the Japanese box office with an iron fist. You're acting like Superman getting kneecapped in Japan was some shocking twist, when it's exactly what I said Aniplex/Sony was planning for by flooding screens. There is no competition yet. That's not proof of dominance, it's proof of stacked odds.
>But the worst part of your post? You are convinced it's all one person.
You're on 4chan. One guy with five tabs open can LARP as a fan army, and your samefaggotry is so easy to spot. Your're not as slick as you think you are. Hell, all of these replies up until now are just you talking to yourself and maybe, two other faggots from your Discord. But this is all a distraction anyway. I didn't make my arguments based on who responded, I made them based on logic, economics, release windows, and comparative behavior. Te crowd noise doesn't change the scoreboard.

Koku isn't afraid of Yoriichi. Think of it this way, the common consent between demons is that the town manifests people's deepest fears, regrets, psychological reels, anomalies, and so on. It's what make it's the is animation a for going through taking. But it's actually the other way around. The UM's manifests your subconscious desires, the metaconscious even. So for example, if someone who was afraid the afraid, they would meet things in Upper Moons that represent it, something akin to like, "a bobble head with a fleshlight for a mouth", but in actuality, the represent a line in which "this girl is malnourished!"

Here's my theory personally:

Look at Tanjiro for example. He dreamed of his father dancing, but when he dance fire dance god, her body sunk into regret, and this wasn't done intentionally. It was done intentionally. In the Swordsmith arc in where a girl Mitsuri suffered from a form of demented, her earrings were ugly, and it was thought she thought had the she coming towards people, and her consultations brought disrespect because she couldn't perceive the way people thought she thought in the moment, or in desperate signatures. So when she brought the upper moon to her house, her mother told her that she was going to date an officer of the law, and this kickstarted her brain kicked her ass her "I will forget how to feel pain" and she high resolution dropped Hantengu

Her father forget her place at the supermarket and she was denying evidence to support the blame for her actions.

They're similar to demons because the town that the store takes a place, inside Koku desire to be consumed instead of fought against, because her deepest desires isn't about Yoriichi, but seeking asylum, and so the demons she manifests having taps on the glass sideways through red walls the angels speak your name aloof a dominant force protruding from the clouds is fucked in the head code of ammunition stock cows eating a bunch of cows eating Koku's flute is symbo

Japanese cinephiles don't flock to capeshit and that's not the damn point, you stupid child. I'm not claiming Superman will eat Infinity Castleโ€™s lunch, what I'm pointing out and what you keep sidestepping like a clown dodging responsibility is there's a VERY real pushback from cinephiles in Japan against the monopolization of theater space by TV anime films (like Demon Slayer and Conan) just like Western cinephiles push back on superhero saturation. And this is 100% backed up by Japanese industry sentiment. You can find quotes from:
>Theater operators on Yahoo Japan
>Articles discussing limited screen diversity
>Cinephile Twitter accounts lamenting "no options but anime"
>Film festival curators complaining about lack of indie/local room
TV-anime-based franchise films are increasingly being viewed as low-risk money printers dominating multiplex space at the expense of variety, and that absolutely irritates cinephile circles. The Kokuhou push I mentioned is EXACTLY their way of fighting back: supporting an art film despite having less media power.

You're just too deep in your waifu shrine to admit that "box office domination" =/= universal love.

I think Daki is the sexiest for a few reasons. Basically, when Daki bounces, the ripples from the air that she makes when her body makes contact with her opponents go towards the nape of her neck because she doesn't have breasts on her back to block it, so the hair sorta acts like a filter for the air ripples meeting the nape of her neck. Demon girls usually can hide their nape from their vagina by using their hair in conjunction with the air ripples without creating the shockwaves from the bouncing that would normally create the clapping sound. So when Daki receives a sloppy helicopter, she lets out the nape gas like she had a mouth on her back instead of breasts. The more you know.

Half-true. But you're just only scratching the surface of a way bigger, deeper, and more depressing cultural reality. Japan has long suffered from cultural insularity or "Galapagos syndrom", a reference to how Japan evolved in its own ecosystem, isolated from global standards, creating products, habits, and systems that only function domestically.

That includes:
>Media
>Technology
>Business practices
>Pop culture consumption
>Global feedback reception
>And this also extends hard into film, manga, TV, and how they engage with Western reception
This didn't start in 2013. If anything, 2013 was the tail-end of the last time Japan pretended to care. They had a brief flirtation with "Cool Japan", a marketing push to export their culture abroad and guess what? It failed miserably because Japan wasn't ready to change, adapt, or collaborate. They wanted the world to consume Japan, but on Japan's terms, without any mutual cultural respect or exchange. That's why they:
>Dismiss foreign interpretations of their own culture (see Shogun)
>Snub talented Japanese creators who go overseas to thrive (see Hiroyuki Sanada)
>Ignore globally beloved Japanese auteurs until the West tells them they're good (see: Kurosawa, Ozu, Mizoguchi)
>Double-down on domestic-safe, inoffensive content like Demon Slayer, idol dramas, and bland TV pap
It's not that they just don't care about the West. It's that they're SO inward-looking that anything made outside their system is instantly suspect, devalued, or treated as foreign noise.

This results in:
>Japan becomes less relevant in global cinema while Korea takes over
>Western creators make better Japanese period pieces than Japan does
>Their best talent leaves, creates elsewhere, and gets appreciated abroad (Sanada, Kurosawa, Suda51, etc.)
>Domestic audiences get spoon-fed easy emotional bait like Demon Slayer and eat it up because the cultural bar for "meaningful" has dropped to the fucking floor

I was rewatching seaon 1 again last night to get ready for the movie (I'll be seeing it on Friday). Is it just me or does this spider girl look like she shit herself? There's a dark smudge right on her butt. I mean, if she died (got poisoned by Shinobu) then it makes sense of the body does that it, muscles loosen up and whatnot, but it's weird that there's that brown spot there to begin with. Not that I'm complaining, that's kinda hot, but still weird for them to include that sort of detail. Realistically, it's probably just dirt from when she was sitting or something

this.
they don't want cross-cultural exchange, they just want exported nationalism which is why shougun gets dismissed even if it's masterfully accurate and those talented japanese filmmakers get ignored until the west praises them
films like departures and drive my car only get more attention from nips after winning oscars
the west unironically loves japanese culture more than japan does but only the parts japan no longer values

I have a few issues with how the power scaling was handled. First of, there are other manga and animes that do a better job at declaring rules for the protagonist characters. Like example, the upper demon kizuki are stronger than the hashiras, but the tengen hashira could fend off the upper six with only one arm, despite his weakness. And then Zenitsu, who can without one versus one an upper moon 6 replacement, and with a single strike even though actual hashiras had to deal with 10+ minutes worth of fighting just to end the upper moon. The balance and power scaling is all off. Not to mention, Tanjiro's dad from the flashback was shown to nearly kill Muzan without any effort, even in his prime, with little, or not effort, if withstanding, despite Muzan being stronger than the an upper moon 1-6 which hashiras (suggested to be the strongest demon slayers) can't even match.

It's getting tiring. They even have numbers on their eyeballs showcasing their rank as upper moons, but Gyuutaro from upper moon 6 puts up more of a fight then upper moons 5 and 4, so is he stronger? They don't get upgraded, it's not intellectual, it shouldn't be aloud. But even with Zenuko, who pink shitted flame allfather is APPARENTLY upper moon level when she's fighting Daki in the red light district, yet Tanjiro (who is not a hashira at the time) is able to control her until she shrinks back to her normal self. The power scaling is terribly inconsistent. I think I would have been better if the hashiras also have numbers on them to show who is stronger than who so that it's easier to gauge the power scaling, because as it stands right now, it's inconsistent. By the end of the series, Tanjiro is supposedly at pillar level.

What did other people think of the power scaling in this series?

You can do this with any series though. Naruto's 3 acts are Act 1. First series (pre-shippuden), Act 2. Akatsuki stuff (ends with pain arc) and Act 3. War arc. The three act structure runs deep into almost every series that exists, even long running shonens. It'll appear even if you're not even paying attention to it.

Expectations were set too high once the anime greatly enhanced Godspeed into some otherworldly move that makes it seem Zenitsu is fucking flying from a single dash, by making the 7th Form be a complete 1:1 adaptation from the manga without any enhancements will make some question why was Godspeed so different then.

Menwhile the very same movie goes on to greatly enhance Shinobu's and Giyu's fight with visuals and expanded parts that weren't in the manga, so in retrospect it further seems Zenitsu was picked to remain faithful to a T to manga on purpose.

It absolutely could be enhanced in several ways, much greater sense of speed and distance for example, Zenitsu could have fallen far deeper and the attack could have been animated like an absolute blitz.

Its Godspeed, which looked much tamer in the manga, can become the lightning beam in the anime then the Flaming Thunder God could be much more.

I remember reading through several comments from Japanese people and what they thought about Shogun, and one of them outright said that the show makes them feel uncomfortable because the dialogue is VERY classical in contrast to many Japanese historical TV drama made by Japan in recent years that have modern-style dialogue. If there's one thing Japan HATES, it's being outdone by foreigners at their game. Japan is still a very insecure country.

Which is why they dismissed Shogun, Hiroyuki Sanada while exalting their badly produced TV drama and Demon Slayer.

shogun's dialogue and use of kobun is so real that japanese viewers felt intimidated by how real it was
the script dares to actually sound like the time period it's set in with archaic and class-bound dialogue. meanwhile, most japanese period drama just throw actors in kimono and let them speak like theyโ€™re on a morning talk show
this should also tell you that if westerners didn't fuck with demon slayer as much as the nips do the whole "lost in translation, too japanese" is just a cope when the west loves shogun more than the nips

Don't care. They're all mangaka who read what's trending or what piques their interests, they're not auteurs like Miyazaki (who dismissed Demon Slayer) is . They're all just narrative engineer operating under a machine, not visionaries with a creator's voice uniquely born out of their obsessions, traumas, philosophies, and style.
>Togashi
More talented than the other shounen slop writer, but still tied to genre scaffolding, because Togashi is still just another mangaka who works for Jump who are demanding Dragon Ball-types of manga.
>Akimoto
A gag mangaka.
>Chiba
Just an artist. He's not Ikki Kajiwara.
>Nasu
A lore-heavy writer with cult following, but very much within otaku ecosystems and Type-Moon absolutely feels like it was written by an otaku with the campy dialogue.

Like I said before, Japan, like any other country, is full of normalfags with shit taste who hate exiting their comfort zones. Demon Slayer thrives not because it's bold or revolutionary, but because it's familiar, safe, and emotionally pre-chewed. Which is why normalfag Japanese exalted it.

Shut your ass up, samefag, rofl. You're trying to clutch industry names for validation for your bog standard battle shounen when actual industry giants like Miyazaki (bigger than Togashi, Akimoto, Chiba, Nasu and pretty much everyone who name-dropped Demon Slayer) would rather throw that slop in the trash than call it "great art."

Like I said, Japan rejected Shogun, the best jidaigeki in decades, because it wasn't "theirs." Hiroyuki Sanada, the finest Japanese actor of his generation, had to leave his own country to get serious roles because idol politics (Takuya Kimura) ran the industry. And Japanese filmmakers like Hirokazu Kore-eda has to make more films abroad to get the support he needs because anime has such a stranglehold on the Japanese film industry.

These obliterate the whole idea that Japanese reception = artistic validation.

>>280820559
Yes, One Piece is included too. Every commercial shounen slop dominating the Japanese box office calls for Japan getting another nuke. This way, we might get another Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi and Yasujiro Ozu again and shounen slop can stop stinking up Japanese cinema. Capeshit in America, capeshit in Japan, it's all just capeshit in the end.

I think the last time it happened he was calling Kanao's final Vermilion Eye an asspull for only blinding one eye against Doma. Which is just such a random complain.
>"Durrr she only lost HALF her vision, asspull!"
and then someone found the page where it happened and Wani had the foresight to have her close one eye and keep the other one, the one she lost, open to maintain the technique

I think he stopped posting after that
