Iczer-1 has been mainstream in the west for more than 20 years, multiple VHS and DVD releases, including dubs, even the more niche sequels got licensed.

it has that meta and insincere feel about it, but much less than your usual stuff with GUI, levels, adventurers guild.
I'd say it's unexepctedly more traditional and realistic than most isekais, kind of trying to storytell right as opposed to the lazy narou isekaishit that literally does "dude like in my RPGs".
Probably better than most "native isekai" fantasy series. If there is a flaw, it is that it is a comedy an often, stuff is sometimes governed by comedy/gimmicks first, story second. Overall, it's still trying to take fantasy more seriusly than most stuff that isn't like hardcore ambitious oldschool (Re-Cervin).
