Ryukishi novels on the other hand are pure kino because they filter out normies, though they could make that Buddhist Hell manga into an Anime since it has a simple enough of a plot to follow and could make for a decent october type anime.

"now that the dust has settled" isn't a panacea for bad things. GouSotsu was overall bad due to how bad the pacing and mystery were. The concept wasn't bad, as a "what if Satoko did it?" sort of spinoff rather than supernatural forces, but the execution was just bad. The manga adaptation fixed most of my complaints, such as the pacing and Satoko's reasons, but like another series that intentionally flushed itself down the toilet, this was a mistake in general.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as it could have been.

After finding out Satoko acquired looping abilities and we see that she got a hold of a syringe to induce Hinamizawa syndrome it was easy to piece together what happened. This made the "answer arcs" in Sotsu somewhat tedious to sit through.

All in all though I'm glad I got to experience the basic formula of what made Higurashi enjoyable after all these years and I'm certainly grateful for that.

Would love to see more Higurashi in the future.
