Super good first ep! Really stunning sets, the characters seem very similar to their old selves, some nice callbacks to the original. I really wasn't expecting full length episodes, it's such a pleasant surprise.

That would undoubtedly be a decision that rightfully deserves condemnation, it'd be hard to tell an effective story if you only had 5~ minutes for character development or plot in every episode.

That being said, the relationship drama and character development and emotional climaxes have all been so ridiculously stronger in the second season so far that I find it hard to understand any dooming, personally.

It's the same logic as Dark Chii. They didn't really drop it at last second, but planned it around to make their emotions, and the characters operate separately, as they said in the interview.
Dark Chii was born by Tsumugi's influence at Chii's despair.
What I think that happened though is that before that, Tsumugi's Envy offspringed from her at Gran Prix, created a scenario where Himari would face Tsumugi alone and probably escalate to a "Dark" point. All that with Tsumugi unaware of what she was doing.
I sincerely think that Himari got saved by getting a fever and making Tsumugi go Princess Mode. The Yellow Triangle would so retreat and come back as Mari later.
There are many scenarios, but having this fucking hole of a Gran Prix is indeed funny to think about.
But my mind is working at something like...

Yeah, you could definitely say that's a major part of the show. I think it's a really cool development that Mii didn't care that much about losing in the first season, but now, between comparing herself to everyone else (especially Himari) and her own self-perceived inferiority, she gets especially crippled by a loss. It kind of gives the impression that she got weaker emotionally after the events of the first season, as opposed to Himari and Chii who both markedly grew from their struggles.
