gantz's author has mental problems and i don't understand the hype for his works.

>Kei and the gang defeated the giant aliens
>they land back on earth
>immediate cut to black
>not even a few pages to see how the world has changed and how our characters are doing
I'm okay with most of Gantz's flaws because even its flaws just make the series incredibly fun but there are 2 that are hard for me to accept, the abrupt end and how Izumi was handled
seriously, how do you not have Izumi in the Osaka arc or make him the main rival to Kurono in the end instead of Nishi?

Feel like Oku just wanted to end it on a hero moment rather than ending on them going back to their mundane lives. Thinking like, more chapters thats not going to lead into anymore cool gantz or alien shit aint worth it
Izumi really didnt need to be in the Osaka arc or even be a rival to Kurono. Gantz isnt made for rivalry, it's more force teamwork rather than two people trying to up one eachother
Izumi clearly had a one-sided rivalry with Kurono which Kurono didnt give a single fuck about. Izumi is good but Kurono is so much better at combat it would be a low diff fight anyway

I wish there was an Epilogue, though. It's not exactly needed, but It would had been nice.

>>280885452
I know where you are coming from, and agree in most of it, but I think Nishi was good for a final rival because he mirrorer Kurono in being an outcast ready to take on the world; maybe had Kurono gotten into Gantz at middle School he would have had less restraint and beaten the shit out of somebody with the suit. His grade-schooler version was a total daredevil.

I think anticlimactic moments were an intended part of Gantz, to showcase the fragility of life and keep you guessing when and how a character will go.

That said, again, I am still looking forward to that epilogue. Just a few pages of the world slowly rebuilding or a simple "where are they now".

But what was the point of stopping Nishi from committing genocide when all the aliens died anyway?
All Kurono did was extend the invasion.

Alien girl dying wish was for them not to kill all of their "people" and Tae remined Kurono about it while they was leaving.
Kurono reluctantly turned around with Tae to stop Nishi from finishing the mission. Nishi was obviously confused by his actions

I think it is mostly symbolic. The whole of Gantz has a much thought put into racism and hatred beyond a simple "it's bad". A point that stuck with me was Kuro hearing host his classmates referred to the mascred that Izumi made as something "a Japanese would never do".

I also felt that killing the aliens off anyway was a douche move on Oku, but I think the point was that Kurono moved past his hatred and gave an inch to try to approach a solution that was better for both parties. Tae's own mother died in front of her, but her journey showed how the Giants were a varied group of people with both shitheads and simple folks just hoping to survive.

In the end it is the pig headed warmongering honour bound mentality of the generals that kills their own people, but not a human hand.

I did lament Nishi dying.

The two MCs have been out at sea for days.
When they get rescued, everyone is still in the same dirty clothing or Gantz suit before the alien ship self-destruct, meaning no one took a bath or decided to change clothing for over a week.
You sure about that anon?

Wow what a breadth of fresh air seeing all these intelligent people on this thread. I also agree the ending wasn't bad, the last battle was the absolute peak of the story imho. Izumi's ending wasn't that bad either because he kinda of redeemed himself by learning the value of protecting another. Obviously there was some plot issues with him and Katou being alive, they sort of occupy the same space in the story so one had to go. We just feel frustrated because well... Izumi was an insanely good character.

Also Nishi being at odds with Kurono in the last arc feels very logical: they were always kindred souls, lived very similar lives and had similar outlooks on life. It's just that Nishi got bad luck = was forced to kill a human which degenerated his personality even further while Kurono had good luck = met Tae which completely changed him as a person.

Yes.
EVERYTHING about the last fight is fucking amazing, it's unfiltered kino.

Kurono's character arc culmination
The side characters support
The stakes of it all
The 2chan meta-commentary blending in with us

If you criticize the last fight then I know for a fact you're a faggot with bad taste and low test.

Knowing Kurono and Kato escape the ship, return home safely and back to their loved ones is enough closure. Sure its not an epilogue or some cliffhanger teasing a sequel but it's still comes to an conclusion.
A real abrupt ending would be Berserk with Guts looking at his kid turn into Griffith crying some nonsense poem about a lonely dream and ending on the next page.

Also people tend to focus on the "god isn't real, karma isn't real, life and death mean nothing to us, we just gave you the means to defend yourselves on a whim" part of the ending as miss the most important part; "the soul is real, transmigration of the soul is real, and the bonds you forge in this life will influence your souls into finding each other again in future reincarnations" which affirms everything Kurono and Kato did as meaningful and significant even in the face of an otherwise uncaring universe
Anonymous No.280890936 [Report]
I don't know why the invasion arc is so hated. Its the most greusome mission by far.
>Human factory farms
>Virus that gives you turbo clone cancer
>People pasta being fed to alien dogs
>Average civvies forced to hide in corpse piles
>School bullies insulting your plain gf
>Hitler Stalin confirming Jesus was a lie
My only complaint is how unnecessarily dickish the god aliens were. They admit humans are basically less than ants to them and only gave us technology as a fuck you to the horse people, but they still bothered to host a ted talk just to insult humanity and traumatize/murder kurono2
