Thanks OP. I have a strange memory of being a kid and seeing a weird bug crawling on my brothers back at the beach. The bug looked like the ones from starship troopers (sideways mandible, four/six legs) but it was orange, black and white. About the size of my hand. He freaked out when he felt it and swatted it away. No fucking clue what that was. My best guess is that it was a normal spider and the memory distorted over time.

I had a dog who grew old and started suffering from all kinds of illnesses. He died from a tumor that made it hard for him to breathe. I hate myself for taking him to the vet too late. It's horrible to watch an animal suffer, and it's even worse when you know you didn’t do enough to help them. It feels like a family member died because of you.
I still have his younger brother. He's now the same age his brother was when he started getting sick. But this time, I was much more prepared for these things, and I took him to the vet thoroughly to find out what the hell was wrong and how to treat it.
He avoided the same disastrous fate as his brother thanks to several surgeries and vaccines that have already saved his life a couple of times. But he still suffers from persistent illnesses that can't be fully cured. It saddens me to know that his time is getting closer, but I truly hope that when he dies, he won’t die in pain.
