Kirakira Precure A La Review 43!

6 more to go. This was a cute episode. It hasn't been Kirakira's strong suit to have a well tied conclusion, but it was there and it was decent enough. Got the summary down a little, but it still hit 2100 characters.

Summary for the anons that need it: Its another cheerful day at KiraPati, and Himari is getting a bit exciteable getting some of her classmates to try her new dessert. The classmates note how much she's changed and show her a cooking audition at a nearby TV station. Himari meets with her mentor Tachibana Yuu who notes how great Himari's notebook has become and then encoraging her to try out. The Audition is packed with people, much to Himari's dismay. After the girls surprise her by tagging along, Ichika and Aoi encourage her, whil AkiYuka get scouted, and Ciel is chased down by the likes of /pc/. Himari is eventually called and her audition begins by faking a cooking section. The problem is Himari is lost as she wants to actually talk about what she is going to do next, but she doesn't know what she's making. She starts breaking down as she asks questions the director isn't ready for, and she eventually runs out. Outside the girls explain to her that its alright they love Himari as she is; but Himari doesn't and runs away. As she grabs her things Ellsio attacks, and grabs Himari's notebook; gleefully burning it. Before the cures can get to Himari, Ellsio mindrapes her, forcing her to view all her terrible memories of kids making fun of her singlular obsession. Just as Himari is about to join the darkside, she steps on the remains of her notebook and remembers all the times her obsession has brought her great joy with the other girls. As she recovers, Ellsio weakens and the Cures try to step in, but Ellsio is prepared and captures all the Cures.

Summary continued: As he tortures them all, he tries on last time to turn Custard, but she smiles through the pain, embracing her cringe. Custard then breaks out, surprising Ellsio allowing the other cures go. After cleansing Ellsio, the auditions restart, and before Custard can detransform, she is grabbed to audition again; this time having actual supplies to work with. The girls watch as Custard berates the director again, but much more lovingly. After the girls express sorrow for Himari's lost notebook, but she's fine in the end, reminding them her notebook is still in her heart.

All the other girls having a moment to have some little hijinks was very pleasing before we got into the real story.

I wasn't expecting Ellsio to pull another rapening after the Aoi episode. Maybe one and done. I suppose I should have expected it since Ichika had a moment as well.
Regardless, the learning to embrace one's cringe is a good virtue, for the most part, but it was falling a little flat in the moment of turning, as they don't really show much of her realization. Just Ichika and the tart cake from the festival episode, or the one before where Yukari and Akira were forced to design it. It was a little strange as we could have used more of the failures and all that. The editing might have gone wonky on Toei as we see them before Himari as Custard breaks out of her torture binds.

Overall a little odd, but the point is still gotten if not 100% optimal.

Yeah, but Himari was fine with herself and never showed any sign of self-hatred before this episode, and again, it would have worked best if it had been established a lot, but doing that IN HER FINAL EPISODE is just wrong, unlike Pikario whose insecurities were established early on, only to have no resolution.

It's a season I would have liked a lot less without Nodoka to carry it. I felt like most of the episodes I enjoyed mostly because I loved her so much. I liked Asumi too, but Hinata's arc was a little lacking, and Chiyu gives all other blues a bad name. The fairies are all cool though. Finale could have been better too, but generally speaking, I was satisfied with the season and would probably rewatch it in a few years or so.
