The truth with Gohan is that his character peaked when he was a child. Gohan was a child soldier thrust into bullshit he was never really prepared for, and this made him a very compelling character.
The problem is Gohan grew up, and thus the audience no longer treated him like a kid. Now he gets fully shat on for his behavior. Letting himself go and not keeping up with training. Fumbling against Buu. Nonstop humiliation rituals in Super. He never grows up or takes any responsibility, he always leaves Earth's defense to Goku and Vegeta, and in Super Hero he doesn't even take care of his own child.

Nuly is a fucking dogshit character based on a fun villain from Movie 8. No matter how much that makes you cry and seethe and throw impotent tantrums, it is the truth. There is nothing interesting or compelling about him whatsoever. The original Broly didn't have much going for him either, but the movie knew that, and he didn't overstay his welcome until the horrible sequels. It was self contained. Nuly isn't the main character like Goku, doesn't have a rivalry dynamic with anyone like Vegeta, and doesn't have a personality to make anyone give a shit about his power and potential like Gohan. Nuly was a good Saiyan with rage problems who didn't want to fight. Zly however was Saiyan lore in being THE Legendary Super Saiyan who required him to be evil and ruthless as its in the Legendary nature to be so.
Therefore there isn't a BETTER character, but Zly simply did WAY MORE with his role then Nuly. Nuly screaming for 30 minutes straight when fighting while Cheelai/Lemo/Goku were the HOST in explaining the misunderstand situation (for example Cheelai ALWAYS blaming Paragus) simply makes him inferior and honestly just WEAK when comparing it to Zly, cause Zly had it far worse then Nuly growing up.

Simple, cause Broly motivation and actions AS SAID BY PARAGUS is from his power, more he had access to his power, the more brutal and savage he became, but Paragus then controls Broly by creating a device to control his power and thus making Broly calm and relaxed, however the meeting with Goku allowed Broly to awakened his power and instincts and overcome Paragus control over him.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball with my brother and he is watching it for the first time. We started from the very first episode where Goku and Bulma meet for the first time.
we finished the Pilaf arc together
we finished the 21st Tournament arc

and we finished the Saiyan arc
and now we are watching the Frieza arc.

Today we watched 18 episodes. Which is the most episodes we watched in a day. And he wanted to watch more but I was sleepy. So I'm guessing he is enjoying this arc more than others but I didn't ask him about that so I can't be sure. We stopped at the episode where super saiyan Goku lets Frieza power up to a 100%.
