I have nostalgia since I grew up with the og series so I prefer that. but if I never watched it before then just watch the newer remake films since the animation quality and pacing is better. there are a few changes and retcons but nothing major.

I remember a time when you didn't even know when a series ended. You got what ever dvds were at the blockbuster or what ever aired on TV and that was it. I'm glad I missed out on the dark times of people pirating what they could on VHS though. THAT must have been rough.

What hype? The general opinion is that it had its moments and the girls were hot, but that it sucked.

S1 is great, S2 beginning and ending are entertaining but China-Namek in the middle is a slog to get through.

Rewatched it recently R1's pacing is incredible. Bombshell twist after bombshell twist

R2 isn't as good in comparison you can tell they rewrote it a bunch of times. Especially the dad and China plot
