Chapter 39 mentions five Zoldyck kids and Alluka was the only one that we don't see during that arc. Alluka also follows the naming gimmick of the other kids so they probably would've been introduced at some point, it just ended up being 280 chapters later.

The satisfying end to that arc is that Gon is permanently crippled because that's the price he chose to pay in order to win. Magic wish-granting imoutos that can do anything the plot requires are completely unnecessary, the arc was already complete and finished. You only need to write something like that if you want to use Gon as a character in the future, in which case, you shouldn't write a story where the character gives up their future in the first place.

Difference is, the most important thing about Killua's background is his family.
Before Alluka is even introduced, five members of his family, including Killua himself, occupy significant narrative roles. One of his siblings is also missing, and it's one that deliberately ruins the naming convention with their absence:

I'd say it's masterful in how easily digestible it is for people who haven't watched much anime but also it has good backbone for people who are overly familiar with shonen and avoids a lot of the cliches/pitfalls of shonen at large (while still intentionally walking right into some of those pitfalls). It still wouldn't be my first pick to show someone but I can see why it gets recommended as a beginning friendly series

You forgot that from the very beginning the family was aware Killua knew something that they didn't. And there was a discrepancy in how he used Nanika's powers, we just didn't realize it until it got called out later.
