That's most of what I care for in shounenshit, and he delivers on it, so he's good enough to me.

nope, even he admits it in an interview where he was saying that he wasn't sure if he wanted to continue only to be sure after aizen "died" in the soul society.
But, even though he didn't forshadow everything, he still wrote the story as if he had. That's what all long running mangakas do. When you write a story for many decades you just can't think about everything decades in advance. There will be some stuff you do know in advance, but you also gotta wing it sometimes. And kubo knew how to make do given what he had.
Also kubo was an inspiration for a lot of new gen shounenshit. Now you can say new gen shounenshit is hot garbage (because it is), but having that much influence on the new gen does mean you're doing something right.
So yeah he's good, very far from perfect, but shounenshit doesn't demand perfection and that's all that matters. Compared to real writers he's decent at best (if you really want to analyze his writing), but for shounenshit he's pretty good.

All writers take inspiration from previous generations, which is what kubo did. In his generation I'd say he was somewhat original, and he did shape up the next generation.
