Haruyo uses the masu form of ganbaru, polite when speaking to an upperclassman. But this contradicts the resolution she just made to be a good Onee-sama and breaks Kasumi's fantasy so she gets butthurt. Haruyo corrects herself with the more casual form of the verb, like how a senpai would speak to a kouhai.
To keep the distinct tone change in English, I'm making Haruyo-onee-sama's speech a little more flowery instead. I did a lengthy writeup in the credits where it's uploaded on Dynasty - Mangadex seems like it's having upload issues so that'll have to wait.

I was reading the tl notes on die nasty scans, and it seems pretty tricky on the author's part. But I suppose the interpretation would be that keigo is putting a wall between them only just after they've come clean and resolved to be open and honest. At least that's the only way I can rationalize it in my head, because dropping teineigo seems counterproductive to maintaining the onee-sama LARP.

As a raw reader I also have to deliberately pay attention to the levels of politeness. Not sure about other people, but my brain is quick to designate that as useless information so it gets filtered out/not committed to memory. (Because it usually is rather unimportant)
This essentially means that I'll often get reminded by Kasumi's sulking that something changed too. That's probably normal to some degree and why Igarashi visually draws attention to it, it's just genuinely easy to miss.

Heck, Kasumi herself missed it in the letter leading up to their botched meeting.

I have so far given essentially zero thought to imperfect acting and how much, if any, they cringe internally when delivering some of the sillier S lines. Maybe I should reread with that in mind. The visuals are often a pompous stage play after all, it stands to reason that the acting would follow suit.
