It's what was popular. Each art book has a bunch of its last pages dedicated to Q/A, dev thoughts, and stuff like that. People enjoyed the tentacle rapes, but mostly human stuff, especially the bad endings that resulted in the girls becoming sluts. They just leaned more into it with each game.

By the 4th game, they drop all the main characters (except the loli angel) and introduce a new MC and his own set of girls. It still has vanilla, but a lot of avoidable rape and NTR content. There's even a coach char who is the dedicated NTR villain, with his own ending for each girl. The 5th game is the same thing with the new cast. The ratio heavily leans towards the rape/corruption and NTR content from 4th to 5th.

This culminated in Rika's finale and her character development in the third game, after which the focus shifted to a different cast. The main idea behind the second game was Rika being kidnapped for like 50% of it, while the new temporary main heroine was the protagonist's sister. In the third game, they introduced another heroine: the white-haired kuudere girl seen in the third OVA. This time, the sister is kidnapped for about half of the game and takes on the role that Rika had in the second game. Her main character dilemma is that she can't properly transform into a magical girl because she now has to share the MC with two other girls, whom she dislikes. Well, it is what sells for the Djibril series. It always had a lot of tentacle rape and a fair bit of human rape. The MC finds out about it but ultimately forgives her, believing she was doing it for everyone's benefit. One funny yet dark aspect of the ending is that there are multiple avoidable (and some unavoidable) rape scenes throughout the game with Rika that are not related to the NTR subplot. The corrupted version of Naoto's sister is attacks Rika at random points in the game and uses students at the school to rape her. Many of the attackers are the MC's best friends. They usually have their memories wiped after every scene anyway. They regain all their memories of this by then, so everyone just kind of accepts they did "bad things" (fucked the shit out of her) to Rika and as a result, betrayed Naoto.

The series does have a gap moe feel with its cutesy art style and hardcore rape content. It is all entirely avoidable in the 4th and 5th game btw. You can get a full on vanilla story if you wanted to with each girls route. You could also let them get raped at some points or let them get 1-2 NTR scenes with the coach before it locks them into those endings. The 4th and 5th game has three kinds of endings for each girl. The first is the vanilla ending for the girl you choose. The second is a generic corruption ending, where if they keep getting raped, they just become willing sluts who fuck anyone (it's NTR, but only under the technically that they're essentially ditching the MC now. It's not the focus, some don't even mention him). The third is the coach's NTR ending.

The series is probably dead going forward. The gacha was their attempt after a decade and they made all the wrong choices. The first game is getting an official translation by JAST, but it's been in production for like 4 years, which is way too long for a VN translation. Assuming the translation even sells well, you can expect the 3rd game by 2035 at best, assuming the second sells well enough to justify it.

It felt like an end to their journey, especially with how balls to the wall they went with Rika's content. The original artist originally swapped the main cast because he somehow lost the ability to draw Rika and the other heroines, which led him into depression for a while. That's why the art style also changed. He still gave us some Rika and others in the 5th game. I think the author (writer) died, which is why we didn't get anything after the 5th game, and why the gacha took a complete vanilla turn.

It's more so that he knows she's being raped, so he can easily forgive her when she's rescued. Most MC's wouldn't ditch the heroine if they got raped. There's a big difference between consensual sex.
