Yeah man me neither. There is more shit about Itachi later on in the series because he gets resurrected during the war arc and there's a flashback arc near the very end of shippuden that apparently gives a full backstory. But I haven't seen these later arcs, I just know they exist

Civil war would have happened and not only would the uchiha be wiped out but many konoha people would be killed and the village would be taken over by other villages after being so weak.
Genociding the uchiha was also key to destroying the cycle of hatred since the sharingan preys on emotions.
