You guys are pretty dim. The very first time Takopii uses the camera to travel back in time, he says it's because he wants to understand Shizuka so he can understand what could lead someone to take their own life.
Instead, he adopts a hero complex and relies on a reset switch to try to solve her problems while knowing nothing about her or her situation.
It's only once he finally becames able to understand Marina and Shizuka that he realized that their problems could not be solved by an outsider ("there's so much I can't do for you") and that what they really needed was someone by their side who could understand their pain. That's why the happy end is the two of them finding happiness in friendship in one another.

Holy crap I kind of hated this show for a bit but I'm at least glad that it ended on a high note. I assumed it'd be a meanspirited miserable show from start to end but that was sweet. so far it's like a 6/10 but I'll watch it again it next summer as I kind of turned my brain off in the first half thinking it'd be a crappy show that's only nice to look at. Also they could have expanded more about how Shizuka and Marina ended up making peace.
And the most egregious of the mistakes is how Azuma just didn't seem to give a fuck about Shizuka anymore. An anon in the previous thread mentioned that by simply adding an additional dialog like "I should tell the teacher about the bullying" or something, would have made it 10x better.

Maybe they keep their memories through time resets? I don't think so but it's bad either way. If she keeps her memories, she remembers all that then never sees her son ever again. If she doesn't, then she never realized time reset and Takopi just randomly vanished in 2016. Of course, if the way the happy magic works is that it erases his existence so he never existed, she wouldn't have memories of him at all.

I think the problem is that the author roadblocked himself into an impossible ending, with all the context of the Happians, happy magic and the time travel, the ending would've been either more misery porn or 'everyone lived happily ever after' type of end.
So the author just went for the middle ground even if it made no sense.

It is incredibly apparent how it was deliberately planned to people revisiting the early chapters while not being too predictable to first time readers. After that point, though, it seems like Yams wasn't completely sure where he wanted to take the story.
