Deku would have been a MUCH better more interesting character if he had gotten All For One instead of One For All. Just the Quirk itself mind you. He could have taken the Quirks of villains, used his autistic hero knowledge to craft surprisingly effective strategies with them to win battles as a vigilante, but unlike AFO who hordes Quirks, Deku tends to give the ones he gets to other unfortunates he meets. This keeps his character arc constantly fresh, always working with a new power set to do interesting things with defeating villains and also avoiding capture by pro heroes. How Deku gets AFO isn’t that hard to set up. Meanwhile All-Might goes on to give OFA to Mirio who is vastly superior as a hero to Deku and Deku fully understands that. The UA learns that AFO must have been passed on to someone and begin a nation-wide hunt for Deku. But this is so far outside of Hori’s writing talent that it’s nothing but fanfiction.

Yes, that good trait which was never used because he had Punch Harder. If he had AFO instead, he’d have to create a strategies with Quirks he’d just acquired with little time to develop them. AFO was overpowered because he stockpiled and combined many strong Qurks over his long life, but Deku wouldn’t stockpile them, he’d absolutely give whatever he took to a Quirkless person who needs it. So his battles would usually begin with him figuring out how to approach an enemy and touch them long enough to initiate Quirk transfer, and then he’d use the newly-acquired Quirk to defeat the other enemies in their team, all the while thinking ahead and strategizing to make it work. He can’t just Punch Harder. And being Deku, he absolutely wouldn’t tolerate NOT giving Quirks to those who need them if he has the power to do so resulting him never stockpiling and become a vigilante Jesus. Deku who dreamed of being like All-Might ended up being like All-Might nemesis, a character development setup which writes its fucking self. Deku having to face Bakugo on opposite sides of the law. And it’s so far outside of Hori’s skills as a writer it may as well be the Count of Monte Christo.

What should have been the moment he stopped letting anyone talk down to him became the moment he was truly mindbroken and he turns into Bakugo's bitch for the rest of the story. Also the whole extra powers thing with One For All was really retarded and unnecessary, he already had the strongest quirk there is and it was pretty much already proven that that was all that was necessary to defeat All For One, the extra powers was just overkill for no reason.
