Unpopular opinion, but the only legit reason to prefer subs over dub is so that you can watch shows as soon as they come out. I usually don't gaf about reading subtitles, but when you've been studying all day, the last thing you want to do is to keep reading. I remember it used to feel like a chore getting through some shows, then I switched to dub and regained my binging ability.
To me subs are a bridge for self-important filthy gaijin to "feel superior." IMO if you want to truly be enlightened, you learn Japanese and just watch the raws, or just watch it in your dubbed primary language of choice.
There's a reason 90% of people on Netflix use dubs, ain't no one trying to read after a long day at work.
