MOGRA is a club located in Akiba that often streams UNTZ. Although they are rental venue, they are known as an otaku club by many. Pretty much all the music played in this event is anison related from vanilla to remixes of ANIME series. This club has been a part of /a/ for well over a decade and even has been sticked multiple times including the most recent New Years event: MOGRA COUNTDOWN PARTY 24/25.

That venue is 月あかり夢てらす or also known as Tsuki Yume. They are a club in Kanagawa and the president is Mura who has joined MOGRA for many events over the decade and also a part of the seasonal Utage usually located in CLUB CITTA. Since their venue is very close to CITTA, they are often the openers. Do note that the venue is much smaller. I highly recommend visiting them for sure. They started well before MOGRA existed.

I been looking forward to watch this show after work every Wednesday and I purposefully watch it before South Park for maximum laughs. This season has been stacked with great shows, but I really think that PSG is really my personal favorite. The OST alone is 11/10 and I am very glad that Taku has free reign to do whatever he wants. I have Reckless playing everyday for weeks. The wait for the OST drop is going to be painful.

Speaking of the thread, I got really teary when I saw the post about No Pan Night. Really got me that there's going to be a whole new generation that will learn that this whole thing started with a Blu Ray release at a venue that was hardly well known outside from Dear Stage fame.

funny, i've been watching drawn together right after for the same reason, i haven't seen it in forever and it really does make a lot more sense when you see PSG's inspiration. That show is a LOT more digusting and crude than I remember, its great. I'm not usually on /a/ for much outside of these threads and holiday events, but I'm watching like 5 shows this season for the first time in a good while. I just wish Grand Blue was also on wednesday or even friday, drinking for all these shows on different days is taxing

Maybe I could rewatch Drawn Together, it's been years. I watched the whole thing when it was airing and it was sure fun. I don't really have motivation to rewatch it again, but the crude humor really does flow well. Another show this season I been getting laughs aside from Grandblue is 2nd season of vending machine. Yeah, A-Pop isn't supposed to be a huge event. It's meant for those who want to come over to chill out and listen to anison while request music. That event evolved over the decade. I remember when it was sort of open to those who were interested in playing and now they have a pool of DJs who rotate. It's a nice event where you can talk to people. I find it fun and I certainly enjoy it.

I watched an interesting video recently about the history of Akiba. Other than the obvious trend of big businesses pushing out the smaller niche businesses and converting shops into office spaces, there was a point made that a lot of people mistook Akiba's bishojo subculture as general anime subculture and then got shocked when they visited which encourages officials to clean up the local image. This plus less of a need to go to Akiba to buy goods means the area is basically losing its identity. The fact that Akihabara station is a big station in a good location means that officials would never just let the otaku have it.

I've had some pretty good experiences. In case you didn't know, MOGRA has two floors, the entrance and the DJ floor. The entrance has a projector playing the livestream, and a bar, and then some sitting and standing space, so it's a good place if you want to relax or if you want to chat.

People are pretty friendly too, both foreign and Japanese, and I've been approached to chat, but of course if you want to chat being outgoing is better. The lower floor has the DJ and dance space, which is pretty small compared to the big clubs you find in Shibuya and elsewhere. On busier days it can get really crowded, but again, not as bad as some other clubs. And like I said, you can always go to the other floor if you want to avoid the crowd.

Overall, has a good vibe, and if you don't mind partying with nerds and dorks then it can be fun.

The sets last year and before that were all really a mixed bag, and I also think the attendance in the threads really dipped to an all-time low. This year it's fine, I would say. Still no fucking DATABASE anywhere !!!

I can't believe it's quickly approaching where I first visit this venue 15 years ago. I never expected that this would be hugely be a part of my life. I been to Tokyo before, mostly going to rock shows, do typical tourist visits and of course visit Akihabara.

Since my flight was on Wednesday, I figured I go back to Akiba one more time before I fly out, but the intention was to purchase a certain rock band merchandise that I saw at the Book Off there before. I went alone because the friend I was hanging out was working. This was during a heatwave and I had long hair and somewhat unkempt facial hair as well. I never went to a maid cafe before so ended up going to one for lunch and got myself their special which was mostly sweets and a picture with one of the maids. I had a great time, except that all those sweets really screwed up my stomach. I ended up going to the paid toilets near the Akiba station a few times that day. Still kept going, but I wanted to visit a Touhou bar.

It was the late afternoon, hot as balls, sweating heavily and stomach finally settled. I went around Akiba looking for a Touhou bar and I was getting pretty frusterated since I was not able to find one. Just went I was about to give up and just go back to the hotel room, I found a poster on the wall which had Reimu on there. My dumb ass thought I found the Touhou bar, so I showed my passport and paid the cover to enter. I probably stayed for about an hour before I left because I felt very conscious about myself since a fucking gaijin ass neckbeard that smelled like ass came into a bar, but I liked the venue enough to somewhat remember it. After that, I never thought about that place again. Honestly, I completely forgot about it until Gainax tweeted about No Pan Night.

I remember telling tenchou that I came there before but of course I was not recognizable and he was drunk out of his mind. He did appreciate that ustream after party though. Great times.
