This episode was egregiously bad. The main lead is a wet blanket, the show is so bland and the music/sound effects are just awful. I usually like a lot of pure slop anime but I have to drop this series.
I dunno if the whole series has always been this bad or if I broke the slop conditioning

I only started the manga yesterday, haven't watched the anime, and am only up to chapter 60, but I agree, I've been enjoying it a fair bit. I didn't think about this while reading it, but on reflecting thanks to this thread, the one thing I dislike about the dynamic post-identity reveal is the fact that kafka hasn't interacted with mina. her smiling at him being himself and not having any regard for protocol was really nice and I want more of that, not less. sure, it makes sense for him to go to first division, but I wish the reveal had happened in a way that only mina and hoshina found out at first, and they struggled with what to do about it

Sadly the lack of slice of life scenes makes the manga a lot wasted without proper character development. At least in other media they try to make up for it.

When Kaiju no.8 started serialization I thought (and desperately prayed) that it'd be Kafka hiding as part of the clean-up crew, getting info on how to fight different kaiju and their weak points by breaking down their corpses as part of the clean-up operations all while hiding his identity and making connections with the little guys and unsung heroes of modern day.

I was so fucking disappointed to keep reading only for it to devolve into the most generic shounenshit imaginable.
