>>281144194 (OP)they should've put that effort towards making the actual episodes not look like shit
>>281145737Budget won't save bad direction.
>>281144571It'a nice how every ending is based on the episode's theme.
>>281144194 (OP)tried so hard to have soul it ended up being cringe
this and Dandadan are prime examples
We should go back to the era of the ending is just a still image with music
>>281145843>tried so hard to have soul it ended up being cringeIt was like the whole thing was soulless and the endings were the only place the animators could be creative
>>281144194 (OP)Ninja Slayer did it first (with just ending songs)
And it had 36 endings iirc
>>281144194 (OP)If they had the budget for 12 ending songs, I really wish they used it on a movie-style soundtrack like Demon Slayer instead.
Ending songs don’t make the anime better — the music during the episode is what actually matters.
>>281144194 (OP)CSM is dogshit incarnate.
>>281145767Budget or direction won't save dogshit source.
>>281144194 (OP)one of the worst series I've ever watched
Nakamura is a god in Reddit
>>281146268>Ending songs don’t make the anime better — the music during the episode is what actually matters.I agree but the composer was wasted by the director. The 12 EDs, as misguided as that idea is, ended up being the best part of the anime because the directors of each ED had complete creative freedom in a way no one else on the project did.
>>281144379Fuck off and die, wojakposter
Are there any other examples of completely unique endings for each episode?
And by "completely" I mean a combination of new songs (same melody sung by different artists doesn't count) and non-recycled complex animation (so something like Katanagatari is too static).
>>281144194 (OP)>12 endingsSo what? It wasn't the first time a show did it and it won't be the last. Katanagatari, Sora no Otoshimono, Highschool of the Dead all did it and those are only the shows which immediately pop up in my head.
>>281146268Btw how is CSM’s soundtrack generally rated?
Personally, I think it’s not bad, but compared to something like SnK or KNY, it really lacks those memorable tracks that stick with you.
perhaps there's a correlation with dogshit adaptations having absolute kino endings?

>>281144194 (OP)13 endings and an unused 14th ending song.
I'm still mad Maximum the Hormone never released the full song
>>281150565The endings had barely any animation tho
>>281146304Flopslopman is only popular on reddit and other gaijin shitholes
>>281149742I think the only highlight of its OST is unironically the OP. Which it’s a disaster when you would expect something like Devilman’s ost.
>>281146304CSM is pretty bad. it's basically an anime for normies to watch performatively. it's completely carried by FOMO, and it will be forgotten as soon as it ends. when you ask CSM fans what's good about it, you'll often hear some buzzword like "it's fun" and "misery porn".
12 endings only worked to showcase neat songs
You didnt have anything significant to reflect on with the ED for each 20min plot segment. Maybe if you had 40 min episodes it'd work better. Or a new ED for each mini-arc that you held for 3 eps.
Then sometimes an ED works best when it riffs on the episodes ending scene. Like Made in abyss had belafs song or Game of thrones had that wacky song after a hand cutting scene. I guess the last montage style ED was most appropriate like that.
It's bad when you have 3-4 super popular vids on youtube that get 14-35mil views and then the filler feeling EDs get 5mil because they didnt have strong enough theme. Youd just be better off having the the great vids repeated 2-3 times during airing.
>>281155334Or just keep 1 good ed and play it till the end of the season so it becomes memorable rather than making only 3 hits out of 12
>>281155365If you have the budget and will to implement multiple good EDs just do that but dont do it poorly.
Monogatari had ED's for story arcs and no one goes "oh no just let me enjoy 1 generic ending that had nothing to do with this specific storyline"
>>281146801It's honestly impressive how much they worship him, I hated almost everything about his direction and reddit treats him like a fucking genius bullied by le evil japanese otaku (that probably know a lot more about animation than those tourists praising the cinematic approach or whatever they call it)
>>281146801And it translated into so much success in the industry.
they could have saved more money by getting YOASOBI
I thought this post was about it having made 12 alternative endings for the series itself and not episode endings. Have any manga or anime done something like this or is it limited to games?
>>281146024So did Hanamaru Kindergarten, and some EDs were like experimental short films
>>281145767This. The anime was doomed from the start, thanks to this faggot.
>>281146747Dunno man, Demon Slayer looked pretty saved
Anyone got that collage of CSM's voice actors talking about the direction they got while recording their voice lines and how it didn't feel like they were recording lines for an anime?
>>281144194 (OP)13 endings + at least 1 original song in each one
>>281144194 (OP)oh I thought the manga ended with 12 different endings, that would be crazy
>>281144194 (OP)This director was a master troll, I've never seen faggots on /a/ as boiled over a voice casting as they were for Makima.
>>281158089Thank you. Goddamn it's surreal to see them making these comments. It doesn't matter if you're a CSM hater and think CSM was always shit, because the fact of the matter is that retard Ryu Nakayama could have been given the chance to adapt whatever you consider to be the greatest manga ever made, and he'd still fuck it up with this self-hating, condescending "I don't want to make it like anime" mindset.
>>281158404He masterfully trolled himself out of a job at MAPPA.
>>281146801>westaboo slop>loved by room temperature iq westoid pigs>hated by respectable Japanese otaku As expected. I'm glad it was a flop. Japan needs to stop sucking westoid sick. I remember the japan that didn't give a fuck and told westoid fucks to fuck off everyone they complained about something. Guess that nasty moloch ambassador really poisoned Japan from the inside.
>>281158169Six EDs, one band. More to the point, Dorohedoro's EDs perfectly supplement the outright weirdness of the show, where most of the CSM EDs basically taunted us with the kind of lurid, nightmarish visual direction most fans actually wanted after having watched twenty-someodd minutes of muted palettes, static shots and a CGI rig that wasn't ready for prime time.

To be fair, the way the characters’ facial expressions were drawn was excellent.
For example, while Ufotable’s Demon Slayer tends to leave a strong impression thanks to its animation, direction, and music, the facial expression details are clearly a downgrade compared to the original manga.
This has been a weakness I’ve noticed in their work since the Fate series, but in that regard, I think Mappa actually does a better job.
>>281159040I almost feel bad for him, maybe if he wasn’t put at the head of csm in particular he could’ve actually done some le cinematic shit with another series that actually would've benefited from his direction, now instead he’s directing fucking roblox games. I can only hope that the movie is better.
Ending 3 is still the undisputed best ending of the decade. Name a better ending I bet you can't. The opening is also top 3 of the decade on God.
>>281149742In a perfect world, Masafumi Takada would've done the OST, but that obviously was never going to happen.
>Your work was so bad that you became a Roblox director

>only one is good
>>281161242Yes. At Times Square, no less.
