I think the novelist just ran out of steam. He wrote a new chapter for the first 4 arcs like weekly, then arc 5 slowed down to basically monthly chapters before he finally stopped on the first chapter of arc 6. Then the manga wrapped up arc 5 and had nothing to adapt.
