Now here comes the fun speculation: what weapon or weapon combination does one use to hunt and kill Goto?

Guy already thinks he's invincible.
My proposal is a combination of sonic and radiation (microwaves) and ultra strong radar to discombobulate his senses and inflict deep discomfort while pelting him with long range armor piercing weaponry.

High velocity cannon fire would likely also help a lot

If that doesn't help, air strikes, missiles and napalm. Pic related would work best, except throw away any semblance of restraint and utterly cook him instead.

I'm sure there's some particularly nasty nerve agents that could do the job, I know several can be absorbed even through the skin so it'd require him fully armouring up in a way that protects against that and going without breathing until he can get away. Since many are also colourless and odourless it'd also require him realizing what's going on before ingesting a fatal dose - since by the time you recognise any symptoms it's probably too late. That said, I don't think Gotou thinks he's truly invincible, otherwise he wouldn't dodge gunfire or use a slanted shield or acknowledge that he has weak spots. He knows he's stronger than everyone else, but not truly invincible enough that he doesn't need to worry about attacks at all.

It looks like both squads present on that page are equipped with shotguns, with one or two squad members wielding rifles (M16, Howa)
they brought "just in case". Considering this is Japanese police, the rifles are most likely loaded with the most basic version of 5.56 NATO.
If instead half of them had 7.62 rifles with AP (or even sabot) rounds, and every squad had 1-2 LMGs with them - the sheer density of highly-penetrative firepower they would be able to send down that corridor would make it impossible for Goto to either dodge or deflect with his shield
For each bullet deflected at a good angle, a dozen would hit the shield directly, delivering the full force and stopping power of a high caliber bullet right to his body, shattering bones and "shocking" soft tissue even if the bullet doesn't penetrate. But considering that he had to deflect basic 5.56 at an angle - 7.62 AP would penetrate

But even if we say that they had no access to "military-grade" weaponry, and had to make do with what they had in manga

As for the police and military, yeah it's weird that they're not really present here. I can understand that setting up an operation takes time, but you'd think Shinichi would at least be put under observation. Maybe the implication is that Shinichi declined in due to survivor's guilt and such, but if that were the case, it should be shown. Like you'd think Hirama would at least assign a tail just to keep him safe.

Storywise, this is all better than if there were more of the military and police shenanigans, and it's not too hurt by just getting into things, but yeah it could've been mentioned.

It seems like the only human part a parasite needs to survive is the digestive system. The only thing Migi needs from Shinichi to survive is the nutrients from the food he eats. Gotou's weak spot also appears to be lower center mass, where assumedly his stomach/intestines would be located. I imagine an infant parasite could survive if it assimilated everything except the stomach and small intestine. The stomach for breaking down food and the small intestine for absorbing nutrients into the bloodstream. Even then it would have dozens of other problems. Like how it would kill (Migi had issues with trying to cut the detective since his mass was too small), eats (It'd have to employ other parasites aid to finish meals, or exclusively target human infants), or grow. (Would the stomach/intestine grow since its a normal human part? Would the parasites mass be able to grow with it?)

I definitely agree with the first part about it needing the humans digestive system, just not that this would cause any trouble for the parasyte. It can still fully consume the head, arms, legs, skin, and any other muscle- or fat tissue.

Growth is largely controlled by hormones, which in turn are controlled by the brain. Thus I believe a parasite could to some extent control and limit the growth of the intenstines.

But yeah sure if a parasyte needs around 4-5kg to be "fully realised", then maybe a 2-year old is a better choice.
