It's the opposite. Sabu was fucking sick of Anzu's lame ramen and Nitta dragging him there thrice a week for daughteru treatment, so he made a scheme to have her think she needed to improve her cooking, and went as far as to bankroll her a trip to learn from other restaurants. She misinterpretend all of this as his earnest and wholehearted support for her and started crushing on him.

Meanwhile Nitta started a fucking witch hunt for the insect that took her Anzu away.
