There's something to be said about how shitposters cannot understand the significance of working on something you created individually, but beyond that, I really doubt we won't see this arc end.
It's already basically done for a start. The war has started so I can only imagine another 70-100 chapters left in it, and it becomes far easier to manage the extremely large cast when most of said cast is dead.
For another thing, the reason why Togashi takes so many hiatuses is likely due to that being the structure of this arc- only focused on a cast of nearly a hundred characters, with all of them acting as significant mechanisms to the arc. That's what he wanted to try doing and his major hiatuses are all associated with this arc.
If you go back, the early movements of the arc (Kurapika's recruitment, capturing Beyond, Ging and Pariston, Hisoka vs Chrollo) all happened relatively fast because they were all individual events with minimal connective tissue.
The big four year long gap? That was when the arc properly started and all the character movement started actually happening, and Togashi has talked about how many manuscripts he's thrown out around this specific section of the arc.

I imagine that, once this is done, we'll probably return to the 20 chapters a year.

The back pain has always been an issue, but if you've actually followed production comments, you'll see he's scrapped as many chapters as he's actually published (if not more), and that is most likely due to the unique scope of this arc in particular. He wanted to write a big arc with nearly a hundred named characters that all act as central components to the ongoing events.
Obviously he isn't getting younger, but he's been unwell for the entirety of HxH's existence, and his pains were worse in the 2000s. He's never ascribed his frequent hiatuses of this era to his back pain though- he's quite literally stated what happened.

It’s a shame. I caught up to the current arc. While I hate some of the walls of text, I’ve been reading and analyzing this arc and I think Togashi is building his magnum opus. I’ve been reading it alongside some classic lit and from a plot and depth perspective it’s right there.
But each hiatus fucks some of the hype, and there’s no guarantee it’ll finish.
I think the Reputation of the arc will improve drastically when we get an anime adaption with no hiatus like with the Chimera arc. But the problem is there’s no guarantee we’ll get a good adaption.

She's actually THE Zodiac I'd expect the least from in terms of combat potential because she's the one who is clearly the most competent in terms of coordination and general management(followed by Botobai probably). I feel like anything beyond was just going to face all these troubles I'd heard about production by osmosis, and it honestly feels like a fine place to stop. The world isn't stopping, but Gon's big 'hunt' for his father has ended. Going on past that felt like adding more things to care about, and having had webcomics and stories I like grind to a halt and stop suddenly I'd rather not do that with a perfectly fine story of a rather big world.

Only Mizai has really been allowed to give off some presence so far. Kanzai too, to an extent. I think Cheadle is fine for her role and she does excel in more "practical" areas of intelligence/leadership than Ging or Pariston do, but that's a lot less exciting in comparison. I think SW's climax and the hypothetical DC will be where most Zodiac get their time to shine.

Finishing the boat arc will take at least 200 chapters and probably 150 if he rushes it and DC should be around 200 chapters if he rushes it. I mean in the context of getting more anime seasons, production committees are going to weep at the thought of having to fill 100 VA slots, however minor most of them are.
And to a lesser extent, that many character design sheets(that is mostly done, but still someone has to do adapt them).
It's not that people wouldn't want to adapt hxh again, but I can see the bean counters just using those types of excuses to procrastinate and push it back or prioritize easier, cheaper, and less complex series to adapt.
