Dominion and Dominion Conflict One might be two of the most underrated manga out there. Personally, I prefer the former, since I love the more comedic side of this series, but the latter has such a creative structure, where a hundred different things happen at once in the foreground and background of a scene that converge in the end, which is praiseworthy nonetheless. The OVAs are fantastic as well. It sucks that normalfags are so obsessed with GitS to such an extent that Shirow's body of work outside of it may as well not exist, because they deserve more attention.

I don't like the first as much because it feels like it was written by someone half-senile and also didn't know what he wanted the series to be. It sets up plot points like they're important then forgets about them and the transitions from one scene to another can be insane. The whole flow is fucked up.

They're not even actually obsessed with GITS proper as they are Oshii's movies and all the follow-ups that are based on it. Most people haven't even read the original manga In fact I've had some people tell me they didn't even know it was based on a manga
Part of why I'm stoked for the manga-based GITS anime. If we're REALLY lucky, maybe we can ride that wave to more Dominion.

He also worked on Pandora in the Crimson Shell (wrote the story and supervised the entire project until completion), which is a canonical prequel to his Ghost in the Shell manga, but everyone pretends it doesn’t exist, despite having an official English release and being a solid sci-fi series with its own identity. He has also been working on Glitch Witch for quite some time, but that project has yet to materialize. Also, some of the artwork he released, such as Seven Traps in Monthly Young Magazine and Dead Drive in Newtype Ace, isn’t porn.

I finally read shirow's work earlier this year and I get why he's a legend. loved ghost in the shell even though things got a bit weird in man-machine interface. I also had no idea so many things in SAC were taken from man-machine interface. appleseed was mostly fine although a bit hard to follow at times. dominion was the most fun and had his best art, especially conflict 1. black magic was kinda whatever, I guess.

Black Magic OVA was super fun. I liked how the marios were animated to fight how a non-human might by utilizing 360 degree joint rotations and shit.
