Luffy and Naruto have actual personality. Ichigo is just a walking talking cool guy simulator. For example, when he saved Rukia from the fire bird. Did he have to stand in front of it? No. Did he have to aura farm while talking to Rukia who is still bound? No. Bro is better at farming than actual farmers

Ichigo was way more expressive and alive before soul society. After the arrancar arc his personality was reduced to 'I must defeat the next bad guy and save my friends' which isn't bad by itself but it became an obsession that overshadowed every other trait he had. He couldn't enjoy anything anymore.

What’s legitimately cool about later-Ichigo (post Aizen battle), is that he shows due reverence for the holy grounds of the battlefield. No matter how urgent the emergency, he’ll never disrespect, blow off or put down an opponent. He won’t just crush weaker enemies with overwhelming power, but will dutifully draw out the full potential of the battle and end it on an appropriate climax.

There's a very simple middle ground one can take here. Kubo's problem is that he introduced a new expanded cast with every single major arc and never fully explored any of them. SS > Arrancar/Hueco Mundo > Fullbring(?) > TYBW each adding a new villain organization gave the existing cast no room to breathe. If Gotei was like 2/3s the size and there were fewer Shinigami overall, then Kubo wouldn't have had so many people to try to jam scenes in for. Similarly, the Quincy should have been a much smaller operation.
Ichigo himself suffered as a character in the final arc because his involvement really didn't have the impact you'd expect from the hero who did the lion's share of work defeating Aizen. If you look at the fights he had, he really has some of the more mediocre of the entire arc. Meanwhile, Kubo acts like he wants to start dropping name characters left and right to show the stakes, but he actually commits to killing off very few of them.
