I'd say there were other problems. The aliens lose too suddenly imo. They look like they're winning until the author decides "actually the Americans are almost done with the job" and then the characters are teleported for a long cutscene and a bonus boss. Another one of the biggest issues is that K1 is treated as a hero while K2 tanks all of the suffering. He doesn't get much time to shine, unlike K1 who is basically player 1 for the EDF campaign. Tae's titanium plot armor makes it even worse in retrospect. imo the god aliens should have resuscitated the ones they've killed in the room of truth. K1 and K2 should have worked together to kill the warrior alien. You could play the rest of the story without changing much, except this time you'd have more characters to do an epilogue with.
