I was going to dump this chapter earlier but this was just so unbelievably dogshit I just didn't, and considering no one had done it, I think we are in agreement this was BAD.
I'm usually very apologetic when it comes to Fairy Tail since I get where Mashima comes from as a writer, but this feels even insulting as a reader. All that build up, all those chapters hyping up these guys as this big threat that even taking on one would have required a big effort, and they all just lose without even a bit of a struggle.
Even the O6 vs O6 fights weren't this bad, there wasn't even that "puzzle" to solve, it was just a one-sided beatdown where F&F didn't even use any of their abilities or just instantly got no'd.
I was fearing this, since Mashima already did the same during the Viernes arc where he set this threat and they just beat the Signario Sisters while ignoring their abilities. For whatever reason he sets up these fights but immediately gives up on them. Forget about optimizing his art, he did the same with the writing and just skipped the entire fight and straight into the conclusion, the problem is that this doesn't even feel like the usual Mashima shit, this feels very "Edens Zero ending" where he just got bored, gave up and is moving on.
If he's not even caring as a writer, I don't see why I should as a reader.

EZ's final arc has better pacing than this travesty. The fights are short and most of the villains lost all credibility as a threat, but the story was always on the move, and new info about the series' backstory was constantly being revealed bit by bit to keep it from being a total bore. Here, the plot has completely ground to a stop thanks to Mashima dumping 12 of this story arc's 20 villains in one place and having all of them fight 16 different heroic characters with no breaks in between, and with no rhyme or reason for how or why half of any of them are there to begin with.

The last time it ever felt like FT was seriously being threatened in the final battle was Tenrou Island. Every fight after that it’s been the same shit over and over again: massive hype for the villain team, followed by FT wrecking their shit.
