>Points out problem in a shonen story such as chosen one tropes, characters getting left behind because of power scaling, and underuse of female characters
>"It's shonen, that's what always happens. Get used to it."
How about they just make better fucking stories? Why is that idea never on the table?

Because people who read shounen are low iq brownoids. If someone wanted a good story they would have picked a better genre/demographic to read from instead of some ESLcoded slop.

Because for the Japanese, if someone just broke the tropes and conventions and made a better story, it'd be seen as spitting in the faces of their "seniors", the extant big-name manga authors responsible for churning out the same stagnant shonenslop for 40 years. Japan's culture fetishizes nepotism and brown-nosing; it's just not okay to show up your "seniors" until they're completely out of the picture. So people pay lip service to them by including the same tired ass tropes. When you see a shonen manga pull the "twist reveal" that the MC is actually the chosen one descended from a special bloodline, it's because the mangaka in question doesn't want to be seen as stepping on anyone's toes and thus made into a social pariah.
For /a/bominations, it's a combination of making shonen manga into core parts of their identity so that any criticism of it becomes a criticism of themselves personally, and also just being aggressively autistic and fearful of change.

Problem with fans complaining about chosen one trope is one piece and using g5 as an exmple is that most act like new gens who grew up yesterday only noticed it in wano
Like how are people this stupid
>โ€one piece was supposed to be differentโ€
>all the big dick characters are related
Also lets not forget one piece loves basking in tropes im not saying its good but i do think youโ€™re totally a fag if you complaining about this and enjoyed most of one piece up untill wano and just started noticing this shit.
Every person who thinks destiny and prophecy were never a thing in one piece are seriously retarded.

Between Luffy, Naruto, Goku, Ichigo, Gon, and Deku, Luffy is leaps and bound sbetter written into his chosen one role. It's not even close. The others are what give it a bad name and make the trope so generic.

i dont ever say "its shonen blah dupity blah" I just say One Piece is the greatest and most soulful story ever told and no amount of pointing out faults is going to negate the massive amount of life inspiring highs. At best most animes are cool or badass but One Piece is much more than that

also did any other character take this long to become a chosen one? even if you proportionately adjust it based on the massive length of OP Luffy didn't become chosen one until 80% into the story or more. Hes the rare example that earned the title

Nips unironically love trash like muh chosen one and reincarnation/distant descendants. Also shonen manga especially in WSJ are under insane workloads and ratings standards. They are in no position to prioritize long-term writing, pacing, and good endings.

If you need 1300 episodes to tell a story, then it's a bad story. You niggers confuse quantity for quality and it's staggering how bad One Piece is compared to how "good" ESLs claim it is. Oda is a shit writer and somehow a worse artist, the sooner he kicks the bucket the better.

this. the idea that special people are special because their families are special plays into the east asian obsession with filial piety.

"chosen one" isn't a problem in any story, let alone something exclusively problematic about shonen series. You just don't like the trope, but it doesn't make a story bad.
What you should care about it if it is set up properly and fits with the theme and message of the story. But you probably don't even know what that means so stew in your angry ignorance because a cartoon did something you didn't like, loser. You suck at media critique.

The "It's shonen, that's what always happens. Get used to it." it'sindeed a stupid argument, but:
>>chosen one tropes, characters getting left behind because of power scaling and underuse of female characters
are not necessarily problems. Deku is a chosen one, and he's cool because that doesn't turn him into a perfect god. I don't miss characters like Launch or Oolong in Dragon Ball, they were always just comic reliefs. Keiko and Shizuru are not the focus of YYH, so she is not underused.

Why are you including Goku in the group? He's not a chosen one. Gon isn't either.

Of the group, Ichigo is the most generic. Deku, on the other hand, is underrated af. He doesn't have any special blood. He doesn't limit himself to punching hard. He doesn't just have physical conflicts. He doesn't use the power of friendship. He doesn't use talk no jutsu. He doesn't care about being number one.

Luffy and Naruto are the only two who are proper chosen ones, in the prophecy sense.
Goku is only special because he's a Saiyan, but he's also better than other Saiyans on his own merit.
Ichigo is a gigamutt of every race created by Aizen, but Aizen never really had a purpose in mind for Ichigo. He just wanted to see what would happen.
Gon is special and exceptional, but the whole point is that he fails to live up to his superior potential and squanders it because he's a stupid kid.
Deku was literally "chosen", but he was chosen by a guy rather than by destiny itself.
And while Naruto is a child of prophecy, people forget that the prophecy was that he and Sasuke would keep fighting across their reincarnations and kill each other forever. Naruto broke the cycle, which was not in the prophecy.
One Piece still isn't over yet, but from the way it looks, it seems like Luffy is just going to do exactly what he was prophesied to do: find the One Piece and overthrow the World Government.
