I think Mackenyu sucks as an actor. I saw him in his Zoro role for the One Piece live action last year, terrible performance. I know Zoro isn't much of a character as most of them in One Piece, but this was pretty bad imo

Toei spent 60$ millions on the live action and as cheap as the CG show looks, it's still not free. Basically they spent a lot of money on SS and it utterly failed by every metric. Toei is licking its wounds now and Kozo Morishita, current head of Toei and original director of the anime, will need really good arguments to convince the Toei board to invest in SS again

Saint Seiya's film and CG outings are, at the very least, decidedly international market centric. There's nothing stopping a new anime from happening, though I would severely doubt it, Kurumada's work just lacks the appeal it once had it seems.
I imagine if a new anime does happen, it'd probably be a Kinnikuman situation where Toei acts as a producer for another studio's efforts.
Honestly though, I'd sooner anticipate a new Ring ni Kakero anime before a new Seiya series, especially with all the retro revivals happening (it's pretty funny how RnK's last 12 episodes STILL aren't subbed after about 15 years lol).

The funny part is that Toei spent so much money for ensuring the actors to participate in the sequel and it'll never be made. Also Toei didn't introduce the full team in the movie because it'd be too expensive. The only reason Toei is still profitable is because they own huge brands with nostalgia value. The first season was atrocious but it got better later by starting to follow the manga. Unfortunately it was too little, too late. And fans will never forgive Eugene Son to turn Shun into a woman. I wish it adapt the Poseidon arc though.

The movie was a Japanese-European co-production with Toei bringing most of the cash but Sony was going to distribute it. The problem is Sony was aware of the massive backlash the project received since the first trailer, arguably even since the first pics, so Sony decided to step back and didn't promote the movie. When KOTZ opened, only the most hardcore SSfags were aware and they already hated the movie. The mythical new audience didn't even notice KOTZ exist so it was literally a movie for no one.
