I think one of the problems is that Mantaro is the only character being used for gags most of the time too. So we see his stupid side way more than we probably should.

I was thinking how Kevin and Chaud/ProtoMan.exe were probably the first two rivals I saw in a show
This lead me to thinking how both Kinnikuman and MegaMan are mostly fan submissions for the designs
And then to thinking of Kinnikuman Battle Network where Chojin replace the Robot Masters as the basis for the Navi
Lan obviously gets Kinnikuman.exe
Dunno if Chaud would get Robin Mask.exe or Terryman.exe while Robin is the Bass.exe equivalent
Mayl gets Bibimba.exe
If Chaud gets Robin then Dex gets Terryman.exe
Yai gets Meat.exe

Ricardo’s dilemma I think is close enough to Buffaloman’s in the revival that I wonder if it was done in response to it. If they were to ever try it again with full force, I think Ricardo should be caught as an Evil Chojin and ostracized by the general public, forcing him to double down on his heel tendencies, but anyone who knows him should be able to see his hesitation and how he secretly pulls his punches despite how gory he makes it look. Maybe he’s beating himself up for not properly mourning his family’s death and tries to honor his heritage, but while he’s cheating and licking blood on the outside, he’s utterly miserable on the inside, realizing that while he was born an Evil Chojin, he ultimately wants to have fair fights determined by skill and gumption. Once he realizes that he gets to control how he shapes his life and casts aside the obligations set upon him by a family that didn’t raise him in favor of his loved ones, Ricardo gets reborn as a Justice Chojin proper and fights at full strength to beat the bad guy and use Friendship Power etc etc.

The problem with Ricardo's plot is that he's a conflicted man that's being bullied into being a heel for essentially no reason other than looking "too scary" to be a justice chojin, no amount of self-reflection is going to help him when the issue is that the good guys vehemently don't want him on his team.

The solution is so obvious it hurts: Have him come back for the Demon Seed arc and sacrifice himself. Nobody even has to realize they were dicks, because this is Nisei and nobody ever does, just make Ricardo get his friendship power from the other chaotic choujin: by teaming up with the likes of Kevin and Mars, Ricardo realizes he can embrace the evil nature left to him by his parents while also fighting for justice, which is ultimately what he actually wants to do, and that he can just tell other justice chojin to go fuck themselves because he's going to help anyway.

Hell, I would go one step further and use Ricardo to make Ashuraman realize that the problem with his son wasn't denying his nature as evil, it was never addressing it: he was condemning his son to the same kind of bullying and inner turmoil Ricardo has but with added betrayal on top, of course he snapped.

There, you've know fixed the 2 most annoying instances of "Muh evil blood" in Nisei.

Maybe if Pashango still raised him but a rival student who is obsessed with justice defeating evil exposed his secret and either dies or ostracizes Ricardo to force him into leaving the school, it wouldn’t hurt as bad. Really you can have so many different routes for this character, but they ended up choosing neither.

Once they started writing the OG cast in their prime in the UTag arc, Yudetamago probably caught more heat for the flaws Nisei had and when deciding to do the revival, they had to re-evaluate some things. That and if they really did base Nisei on a specific era of wrestling, especially in the west, it had already passed by the time of the Revival.
