the megacorp back hos research had its fingers in a lot of dirty pies and that was a big part of the reason the scientist had been losing faith in humanity and himself, and that they were stumbling into this shit and possible gathered sone evidence along the way was why the assassins started being sent after the task force

My favourite bit of scripting was when Watanabe said in an interview that he initially wanted the cure to be something mundane like Cola or something. And that he toyed with the idea that in the end the people who drank/ate/did this mundane thing would survive and the rest wouldn't. But the rest of the writers told him that probably wouldn't go too well with the audience.

It sucks that you can tell that Watanabe really wanted to make a comedy but the people who were funding him just wanted Cowboy Bebop again. Even a lot of the characters in Lazarus are more comedic, like DJ/Investor duo in that one episode that are just total frauds who let AI take care of everything or that one fat hacker who lives in a van. Those sorts of wacky, fundamentally pathetic characters are fine for a comedy but don't really belong in the same show where one of our main characters has to confront her cult-indoctrinated parents or everyone on the planet dies.

From what I recall none of the people in team lazarus actually remember, or at least thought it was important enough to mention, that they were present during the airport incident, which is absolutely retarded. am I remembering wrong?

Not a fan of the blind chance for saving humanity.
I would have liked it so that the people with the right genetic makeup became "contagious" with the cure. And the more people they interact with, the more it spreads.
They could have tied that into their non-stop efforts of traveling the globe to spread the cure.
i.e. if these individuals go all out trying to find the cure, they unknowingly spread it

I think it might've been more fitting if, rather than everyone on the Lazarus team was "cured", they had happened upon a few people who were cured in the airport attack throughout their globe-trotting adventures. You could maybe make it so one of the people on the team was exposed but thought they just survived a terror attack so didn't think to mention it. It's not like it's important that the main characters had the cure inside them all along, and having met people who were cured could reinforce the show's overall themes of connecting with people no matter the circumstances.
