Took the series 14 books to get really good, the school arc is okay but the adventure in the demon continent with Ruijerd was keeping me interested. I finished book 23 today, had a lot of fun with the Atofe recruiting tropes, and how Roxy and Eris were awkward with each other but developed a strong bond. My favorite wife is Sylphie, the arc with Sieg and the sky fortress were really emotional. My favorite character is Orsted, he's very grounded and interesting, and a little gap moe with his curse and how he still thinks how other people will view him, I mean, he mostly doesn't care but he got to meet a lot of new people with Rudy and co, and showed more of his softness sorry I'm a fujo so I pay a lot of attention to the male characters.
The whole "can't have sex pregnant" is dumb as fuck though, Rudy avoiding sex to not get the girls pregnant and protect them is more understandable, albeit they could have asked the massive slut Elinalise her contraception methods, and it's not like Rudy doesn't know what condoms are. I know some spoilers of the series, I used to like Eris a lot but after the whole Ars/Aisha thing where she beats Ars up was fucked up. Maybe it's different from what I read in these threads, a lot of things I've read in 4chan over the years were misinterpretation or flat out lies. To be honest, Orsted killing a God isn't even a defining trait of his character. He's literally a God that's the son of the original God out on a mission to kill a God who ruined everything. It's more like a God vs God, so "killing a God" didn't even struck largely to me. Especially since Hitogami might as well just be a phony while Orsted is a real God
Orsted gives off a Godly aura than Hitogami, so it's more like he's doing his own thing as a God rather than his mission defining his character

Not many characters have "I want to kill God" as a main motivation.
Most JRPG characters just do it to save the world, or through a buildup to that point. There's not really any that have it as their entire character.

The worldbuilding with MT is great since it's an established world full of history even before Rudeus came to that world. Like, Rudeus himself isn't even THAT big of a deal to the world. He played a part but it's not something that shook the entire world. There's even characters like Laplace who's treated like second coming of Jesus Christ for every name drop he gets, and he didn't even appear in Rudeus' lifetime. There are stuff that actually happened before Rudeus came to that world and there are stuff that WILL happen after he's dead, that's why the worldbuilding of this series is great. It's an actual world that's independent even outside the main character of the series

The killing god thing isn't actually about X god in particular, it's actually about the narrative roles they play in the story.

MT could be considered akin to a JRPG in the sense that the evil God is similar in nature to the final villains of several JRPGs as they are also often gods making the character of Orsted taking a protagonist role in the story.

As the hero he struggles to take down the evil God but manages to win in the end proving hardwork and determination triumphs all.
