I thought that I'd never be satisfied with the ending as long as the MC doesn't get with the nice girl but him ending up with the tsundere was a nice touch.

Too bad good manga like this will never get an animated movie.

It shows a series doesn't need to be good in order to have a good ending. The sheer level of misunderstanding retardation Maison Ikkoku went through the last arc in order to keep the love quadrant going as far as it did was just insane.

It's been on my radar for a while but I keep putting off buying it. It's on sale at the moment so I might finally pick it up, but it's supposed to be part of a trilogy, isn't it? I really don't think Nasu will keep his promise about the trilogy so don't get your hopes too high on this one. See with Tsukihime Remake, we can't trust anything from Nasu/Takeuchi anymore. But it would be such a waste to not experience Mahoyo because of that. The ending is satisfying and i felt that it was a story with a beginning and an end, but at the same time you crave for more, you can feel that it's only the beginning of a bigger story.

I really love this manga a lot. It feels like we follow the MC through a very tiring journey where he progresses and regresses as a person, and the ending gave the journey a pretty nice closure.

I didn't like the ending to this one personally. Maybe I'm just bitter, but the whole "you are only an outcast because you don't open up to people" thing bothers me because it isn't really true in my experience. I also don't like how delinquent-chan is suddenly a good person now, even though I understand the point being made about reflecting on the past and making an effort to change

Good fucking god, the way this series picks up is something worthy of being studied. The first 12 or episodes are pretty weak, but once Kazuki gets the Mark Sein and goes back to Tatsumiyajima, it never stops. And that final stretch? Amazing, simply amazing. Them fighting Nicth had me on the edge praying no one would die. It's such a good ending it made thoroughly satisfied with it and it almost makes me wish it had continuations. Even if Exodus is better in almost every regard, DA still holds such a special ending that it makes me like it more.

Loner stories in general largely fail to account for the issue that some people are simply unlikeable even if they aren't necessarily bad people. It's not a great kind of protagonist afterall.

Strongest Man Kurosawa is probably the only type of story like this I've seen that acknowledges that harsh truth but still keeps itself dignified
Anonymous No.281307824

I guess it's hard to make a realistic story about outcasts without making it overly depressing, or turning it into torture porn. People usually want a positive ending and character development in a story. I did enjoy Strongest Man Kurosawa, I think it manages to avoid this issue by having a protagonist who just refuses to give up regardless of how shit things get.

I liked it because it showed how delusional the MC was. The reason this scene surprised so many was because the audience was dragged along into his delusions.
It perfectly encapsulates that Middle school - Early High school period where you think it's uncool to stick out, but really it's that feeling is fueled by fear. Broccoli was a great guy. And at the end when he finally recognizes that fear, confessing because he doesn't want to be held back by it, I think that's amazing.

O-Host.
It got a bit Cerberus syndrome-y towards the end but overall I think it had a good ending. The best ship wins in the most dramatic way possible, and everything with Tamaki's issues and that of his family's gets resolved pretty well, and I found his eventual bond with his grandmother to turn out pretty touching. I really highly recommend it to people who watched, and liked the anime (which sort of had to rush a similar conclusion. It's a bit different in places, but regardless, it's a classic.

Although I tend to think that anime viewers' definition of a "satisfying" ending is an utterly impossible hallucinatory ideal, a number of shows have had endings that thoroughly satisfied me.

That said, nothing else has ever come remotely close to the final run of Ojamajo Doremi. Even if the actual very last episode isn't the strongest, holy crap, the whole concluding arc is gut-wrenchingly and beautifully moving.

The siege wasn't my favorite, but the train stuff just felt like it cut off in the middle of things in a weird way.
Like one chapter we have Ogata putting the screws to Tsurumi and forcing him into a partnership where Ogata holds all the power for once, and then he dies the next chapter after having a poison induced schizophrenic breakdown and the entire story moves on like none of that happened. Then instead of Tsurumi being beaten by being outsmarted for the first time, a proper comeuppance, he's just wiped out except not really.
