the problem with failure frame is that it's unironically a slow burn, the entire first arc is boring as fuck aside from the initial dopamine rush when the MC properly awakens his powers, and even then half of the second arc is slow as shit, THEN shit kicks off proper and it becomes kino
also the reason i don't recommend it, nobody should endure through slogs for that long to "get to the good part"

I remember a discussion and it's due to the current (or a few years back) japanese society. The children grew up started to struggle in the university entrance exames or job market. Becoming ronins repeatedly trying and failing, becoming NEETs, entering super tiring jobs for anything they could do and so on.
Isekai is escapism, death in this life to one of the old fantasy realm they played when they were kids like Dragon Quest. Wish fulfillment in that the knowledge they got wasn't useless and so on.
Though nowadays that got dilluted a lot. Everyone is trying their hand at it and everyone equally consuming it. Lately not even isekai itself, but rather fantasy wish fulfillment of being recognized as useless in a high ranked party, being kicked out and then joining a party that actually recognizes their worth and shooting up the ranks, liek someone leaving a black company and finding a much better company to work at.

No, it's just a metaphor for leaving the shitty overrated hellhole cities that suck out your soul for profits behind and go to more rural areas where your expertise will be much more rare and much more valued.

All this talk about "wish-fulfillment" has just spread because of people wanting their consumption of fiction to be recognized as "more socially acceptable" than others. But in the end it's all fiction all the same. Many an author will claim that the "message" they convey in their work is superior to others. But no, it's just fiction, period. Even all the fiction by Shakespear is no different. People who studied anything related to literature which is just a dead-end job-path use all that fancy rating of fiction stuff to justify their existence.

Publishers tend to get so many scripts like that to the point most of them tend to run small contests every 3-6 months to see which they accept to turn into published series or one offs.
Big publishers like kadokawa and their labels and overlap even offer cash prizes.
That you didn't know something authors commonly whine about on afterwords after finally passing a contest is at best comical, at worst shows you're a tourist trying to push a narrative.

What? This literally proves my point: getting an editor to read your manuscript is essentially winning a raffle. Why else do you think novice writers flock to Syosetu? Getting an audience beforehand is the shortest route to getting published "for real".
You have better odds by trying your luck at magazine sweepstakes, Nasubi-style. Hell, even scratch-offs have a winner some 5% of the time.

Easy to write. Normal fantasy is hard because you have to be able to do world building well, and it's hard to write characters for a world you've never personally experienced. Non-fantasy is also hard because it's hard making the mundane interesting.

Please do not tell me you actually believe this nonsense. Yes, Syosetu is like any other social media website, with thousands itching to get noticed. And yet, even that approach works out better than sending your manuscript to the slush pile.
Going from recent anime adaptations alone, there are considerably more stories that came originally from Syosetu than, say, an "established" author publishing in Dengeki Bunko.

They still license some non-isekai things sometimes since they got acquired e.g. StepExes, Inou Battle, Anos-sama, Rebuild World, Rakudai, all got licensed after the acquisition, it's just that nobody buys them.
also they do still get good isekai sometimes (I personally find TRPG, Sevens, Dorkness, Otome Heroine, Trials and Tribulations, Conqueror from a Dying Kingdom, Fake Saint, Zilbagias, Nia Liston, Mythical Hero's Otherworld Chronicles, and D-Genesis all decently readable to name a few)
I think though that their very business model predisposes to Kadokawa forcing most of the slop on them, since as a digital first publisher they can make a profit on garbage that Yen Press or Seven Seas would never think justifies the cost of a print run.

No one will buy them. No one will read them. No one will love them. It's hijacking the potential to focus on interesting stuff elsewhere. It'll all get axed in 3/4/5 volumes in. Translator probably won't even be able to give a shit because of how boring everything is for the original JP stuff. The authors mass churn them out with no interest or care. It's completely useless garbage drowning out the potential for anything worthwhile to be licensed. Worse of all is the CEO's fucking autistic insistence on only, on absolutely only exclusively licensing what's 'safe, shiny and new' because of his fucking ineptitude at picking up works that stood the test of time and which still can be successfully enjoyed today.... But hey, at least they licensed Rakudai, which despite being from 20 fucking 13, is definitely selling well for them. Maybe that'll get them to change on that. Anyone that gives a shit about LNs has been importing the originals or at least buying them digitally because of the rampant insane censorship with trannylations, if anything it's highly likely they straight up learned japanese exactly because they either got sick of translations taking forever (rance X is still not out in westoidese btw), because of the censorship, or both.
Anyone casual enough to not care they are being served fanfic excrement on a plate is sticking to anime dubs.

No, they don't last long in Japan either. What lasts long in Japan is always in some measure guaranteed to be good as with the story of Anos ( which recently concluded in a splendid fashion). Everything listed above is dogshit, and you can confirm as much by opening their bookwalker page and plainly seeing how the author scatters several series everywhere in hopes of just making more cash rather than pouring his soul into one thing. They even licensed another novel by the Knight&Magic guy who himself stated it was a throwaway project to experiment on how he'd write a certain setting. Let me ask you, what's the use in licensing that? A 2 volume series from a no name publisher that was setto wither and fade to nothing from the very beginning?

So? That all you have to say? Its perfectly established itself alongside Dengeki's masterpieces right alongside GENESIS, Houkagogakari, Kino's Journey, Ilya's Sky, Toaru, Wizard's Brain, and all the rest. I don't care for purple prose or anything like that. Conceptually, it's one of the most interesting and stupendous LNs I read together with NISIO's Ningen and strongest series, and the ending gave me everything I could ever want.

Again, anyone that cares about already established masterpieces is just reading them in japanese.
Westoid trannylators literally spent 3 decades attacking what should have been their target market and actively attacking "weebslop" and daring to act like their excrement is better than the original writing.
They kept doing it expecting normalfags to not care and people to continue mindlessly buying, then are surprised normalfags are in fact illiterate monkeys and the only ones that care about the source material would rather not give money to westoid saboteurs.

Another world can separate real social issues.
There is no need to consider black people or gay people.
America should follow suit.

I'm actually surprised they got Nia Liston since it's a pretty hot series popularity wise.

>Why is Isekai so prevalent?
It is ridiculously easy to produce and editors will surf whatever is the buzz.
It also a good excuse to lower the standards for later productions.

Writing good characters? Just copypaste your public target, use magic to make the fat incel into a slender chad.
Writing good setting? Just make up on the go.
Writing good plot? Just find a funny twist, you don't even have to setup anything.

Just draw plenty of sexy girls and you are set.

>No one will buy them. No one will read them. No one will love them.
if nobody was buying them they wouldn't keep licensing them

anon, there is no avalanche of readers mass learning japanese and importing the originals. the ln translation industry is making profits hand over fist as they continue to hoover up all the slop, and shitpress gets away with fucking up translations all the time for the good shit that they cockblocked jnc from because nobody can tell the difference.
