I really hate to complain but the drop in animation quality between last season and this is too much, this is especially visible when you compare the Semen-men episodes (Fast and Furious could have been a shitty YouTube animation) but also when you observe the variety of styles the old show used and the dynamic feel of the action sequences. The new show just doesn't have that, it is much lazier. Also, the 3 segments structure is making any more interesting character interactions and ghost subplots impossible, really not a fan. People are saying the original show only got good at episode 6 with the Demon Sisters but the segments with the Queen Bee, Moviestar Panty and the Sweets Ghost segments were all super fun and early on. What attracted me to the original show was that it stylistically resembled and to an extent parodied the crappy American cartoons I watched as a kid (Johnny Test, etc.) but somehow managed an own artistic vision and a distinctly Japanese sincere and spontaneous humor. The new show is like, well, Johnny Test but with Angel Sluts, shorter segments and a fuckton of references, the quality of the jokes and animation is on par with any American slop you could find on Cartoon Network in 2010 (References are OK. but not when they span a whole segment a là the 70's capeshit one, Transformers one in the original got boring quickly as well). Also, I understand why some people are mad about the toning down of the humor (along with the lips thing, etc.) but to be fair, otherwise the show wouldn't even fly in America now so I don't blame Trigger. From what I saw yesterday you have a lot of spammers on both sides in these threads, so don't mistake me for one, just have an opinion.

It is not about the *beauty* or *grace* of the style, it is more about the dynamic nature of it. See the way the Demon Sisters' faces were made into absurd grimaces or the chase sequence in the second fragment of the original first episode. Or hell, even the disgusting nose booger episode. Daten City felt like a cocaine-fueled fever dream with shit stretching, dashing and twirling in all directions. That is why the most underdiscussed segment of the show, the one set in Little Tokyo, was so memorable to me. Seeing the bland, hyperrealistic, fleshy style popular in Japan in the early 2000's (see stuff like the Animatrix) get "invaded" by sexy American Powerpuff Girls-like figures was unforgettable for me.

There is no drop in animation quality. If anything it's both higher on average and the peaks (episode 1 and 10) are above anything in S1 up this point. Fuck & Furious is a shitposty segment comparable to Chuck to the Future pt1, obviously not indicative of the general animation quality. And even then it wasn't much different from an actual low quality episode of S1 like If Angel Wore Swimsuits.
