Honestly just get what you like. I had the Aki figure porch pirated from me and I ended up repurchasing it a year later because I still liked it and still wanted it so in the end that one figure cost me like $500 if I include the first price. it was stolen after delivery so unfortunately I didn't get any money back for it.
Another thing that you could possibly do because a lot of people have grown up since the first one is get the set that you like better and then purchase it in the second hand market. In my case at least I found that most figures have stayed the same price or maybe have gotten 5 to 10K more expensive. Very few of the figures that I like end up binning unfortunately. So if you do end up liking the figures that much you can expect a two to three year break after release before you buy it.

I also don't have experience in franchises that are heavily female casted so unfortunately I can only give you the male figure buyer experience. It's stable but hard work. For example the munechika figure that I bought almost 10 years ago is now valued at 8K yen and I bought it at 12k new.
