Anime live action adaptations suck. They either don't get the spirit right or they don't have the budget for the special effects and look terrible. One Piece LA is a C at best. Hard core fans will find it amusing but new comers it leaves them lost and wanting something better. I can see kids loving it though also its not over a thousand episodes currently so. there. is. that.

Even if the people who made the show are utterly incompetent, they are still trying to respect the spirit of the source material (which is all people give a shit about, the medium itself is actually irrelevant).

As an adaptation its fine. I wouldn't call it "better". They tried and its fun. That is what One Piece is at its heart. I'm glad Oda is here/10.

The only reason why I want this garbage live action adaptation to succeed is because I don't want Netflix to ax the Wit Studio anime remake immediately.

One Piece is still the only successful and good LA adaption. Cope retards. Dragon Ball failed. A live action Naruto or HxH would instantly fail.

You can't adapt one piece to live action. Luffy in particular doesn't work as a character, his carefree attitude, energy and ability to stretch isn't something an actor can emulate convincingly.
That being said the live action does a decent job at capturing the feeling of the manga and will introduce the series to people who would've otherwise never bothered.
I'm not a huge fan but I think it's still a good thing to have put out.

when you've invested into a series for two and a half decades and watched over a thousand episodes and read over a thousand chapters and engaged in discussions about one series for that long, there's a sort of cult mentality, a mixture of buyer's remorse and other forms of psychological dedication that comes along with that, which requires of you to appreciate any new piece of media about this series that comes out that you must embrace regardless of how bad it is.

Accept what? I don't watch live action shit so it doesn't effect me.
