The last episode stretched 1 (one) page into almost 5 minutes, and not just any page but a page with the characters falling from the sky, so they are falling for 5 minutes, no one even considering that Kuma LITERALLY has the teleportation ability which he used to get to the island. Characters stare at stuff longer than ever before (Vegapunk watching shitty explosions), repeat scenes more often than ever before or do OC hack direction like Bonny's tears falling...upwards...against Kuma's hat...with a weird amount of focus and loud sound effect as if it's somehow an archetypical motif or something instead of just random

We still get flashbacks FOR the Kuma flashback that just finally wrapped up. They somehow even ruined the chapter where Kuma punches Saturn with shitty padding: it's supposed to be about humanity and Kuma acting human one last time, but in the anime he shoots lasers from his mouth like a generic robot

The pacing is unbearable if you have a working brain and the manga simply not made for a 20-minutes format. They no longer even try to come up with half-decent filler or let alone to fit more than one chapter into an episode, which is what they used to do all the time back in the day

And of course it still looks hyperdigitalized and cheap most of the time and the new background music is just wrong and sucks--One Piece used to have iconic music, now it's just random noise

The anime peaked somewhere around Skypiea and Enies Lobby and already turned to shit before the war and never recovered

I just listed things and could list a million more that are exclusive to the trashy anime. If it was completely analogous I wouldn't hate the anime and it wouldn't be so common that manga fans shit on anime adaptations (which they should in cases like this)

The Toei adaption is irrevocably fucked by their approach how they do adaptions. Recent breaks aside, they're still operating under the objective to stretch things out enough to somewhat not run out of manga material to adapt on a weekly basis. The pacing will always be a mess and the occasional eye candy that gets turned into webms doesn't fix the actual viewing experience, neither does a stellar singular episode every 70 or so episodes fix the overall experience, where a director manages to break out of that mold.
That's just the pacing though and there's more problems. While they tried to improve the overall animation since Wano, I can't get past the shitty sound effects they use for basically everything. The soundtrack is great, but damn, their sound library and the usage thereof makes my ears bleed. "Oh look, here's the sequence that looked so cool as a webm. Oh, god my ears, make it stop!". That's another factor that drags the anime down several notches.

Watch the new OP and ED when they come around and those aforementioned single episodes that manage to make waves on the forums and ignore the rest. It's the easiert way to keep your sanity and don't give in to the occasional urge of "oh, maybe I should give the series another try."
That being said, I'm curious about WIT's remake of the beginning to see whether they had the eye (AND EARS) to fix what Toei delivered all those years back.
