hmm... yeah i think i have to agree. nichijou for me doesn't pick up until episodes 3-4, whereas CITY has been consistently solid since the second episode with no dips in quality

Nichijou still has that more non-stop slapstick appeal for me but City has a lot more dedicated segments that have a lot of heart to em and love that yeah I would agree generally CITY is better

I think I'm there too, now, after episode 5. And episode 6 is my new favorite episode. Nichijou was funnier though. But CITY is the joyful and fun experience KyoAni set out to create in a dark and cynical world of modern anime.

I assume because that required actual effort and be serious about it, so when she switched the plan to just shoot her off the catapult, they went on board with this idea as it is stupid and lazy.
